On the Medical History Survey, why is there an Orthopedic Questionnaire? Does a one-time fully healed rib fracture (football injury)constitute an orthopedic condition?

To be honest I probably wouldn't list anything that is fully healed and doesn't affect you in any way currently. Could be a hassle for no reason. Up to you, though.

Be truthful. No more, no less. If it was never diagnosed you may be able to let it slide. If you saw a doctor you should disclose it. Have your doctor write a letter saying you have healed completely and returned to strenuous activity.

Unless a medical professional confirmed xyz, then don't mention xyz. DODMERB is meant to disqualify candidates, don't enable them in impeding you.

Yes it does. Just make sure you have all paperwork stating that it is healed and no further issues. It should not be a problem. Failure to disclose will be a problem.

Be honest. If accepted they will go through this again at the beginning of swab summer and a few cadets from my DS class were sent home. That being said there are waivers.

It depends on WHO diagnosed the injury as a "fracture." Plus it also depends on WHO says you are "fully healed."

As others have said, self diagnosis doesn't count. If a Dr. has put on record that you had a fractured rib, and also said you are now fully healed, you should be okay. But if you don't disclose something that is on the medical record, then you are not being truthful.

Answer the questions truthfully and completely, no more, no less.

Dodmerb is very black and white. To them is either qualified or not. Its up to the CGA medical waiver authority to review your physical and any medical notes, specialist reports etc that you provide and make a decision as to whether or not you are medically cleared for admission. If you provide proper notes for care dodmerb may find you qualified and a waiver may not be a factor at all. Just gotta let this process run its course.

Thank you all for your input. This is why we are confused by the question on the medical history questionnaire. The diagnosis wasn't rib fracture but a pnuemothorax actually which only 6 days to heal. Contact activity restricted for 4-6 weeks but this all was 2 years ago. DS returned to sports activities and teams thereafter. So still don't know why there is an orthopedic condition questionnaire? DS has no ortho condition but we could not proceed without completing it.
