I am hoping to receive some advice without ruining my chances of getting into an academy or ROTC. I have been very sick for about 9 months by now. Doctors have confirmed about five or six different chronic illnesses that I have been dealing with simultaneously. I have been out of school for months, and have done online school periodically when I can. However, we seem to have reached a turning point, and with the right treatment, my illnesses should go away within the next couple months. I am hoping that the academies (if I am healthy of course by next fall) will see this experience as a opportunity to have proven my dedication to succeed no matter the circumstances. Not many other candidates, if any, will have this on their resume. I have maintained my 4.0 and have received A's in 200 level college classes while fighting this. I don't know whether (even if I am 100% healthy by the fall) the academies will look at my medical history and DQ me.
Is there a medical professional on this site that I can share my actual medical issues to without ruining my chances of an appointment?
On a side note, I have been selected for Boys State and am still waiting to hear for SLE. My medical conditions have kept me out of shape (usually in very good shape, have 4 varsity letters obtained Freshmen and Sophomore year, state competition) however I believe I might be able to begin working out again by May. Will that be enough time to prepare for the rigors of SLE if selected? Would it look bad if I had to miss due to health issues?
Thanks for any feedback, and I would hate for these conditions to ruin my dream that I've been working towards since the 7th grade.
