Hello everyone! Unfortunately, I had a serious medical incident in the first quarter of my junior year which caused me to miss over a month of school. I am currently making up my grades with an academic accommodation plan by my school, however, since the application process for me will begin to start, I am wondering if this is going to reflect negatively on me since I'm still catching up with my grades and if there's anything I can do to make this clear in my application. Thanks for your time.

My unweighted GPA dropped to 3.7 and my weighted dropped to 4.4, I currently have two B's in my economics and Biology class, but these grades aren't set in stone yet.

Also, these are both AP classes, AP Macroeconomics and AP Biology, I am currently in 6 AP classes and two honors classes, with my only on-level class being my Varsity Choir class

Great material for an essay - overcoming a setback, powering through adversity, showing resilience and determination.

Some SA applications have an optional area that is essentially “is there anything else we should know about you?” This is where many talk about family challenges, adverse events, language/culture challenges, etc.

Just do your best going forward. You can’t change the past, but you can talk about it in a straightforward manner, not bragging, but showing how you dug deep to catch up.

OP, I know it wasnt your question, but make sure to also work on solid back up plans. if you have read here for long, you already know that. Every year there are solid, amazing applicants that do not receive an appointment. Having a good backup is a prudent thing to do!! Best wishes to you. It takes a lot of courage to overcome such setbacks. Been through that with my own child. You have grit and determination already!

You say not all the grades aren’t set in stone yet. Life happens. The Academy gets that. What’s more important is how do you respond to it. Until the grades are final, just keep doing your best to raise them. The kind of grit you’re demonstrating now is what Army officers need to be successful. Good luck, and best wishes in your recovery on all fronts.

Because of this, "an academic accommodation plan by my school," I'd recommend you:
