My DS just received a conditional appointment to CGA. He needs a medical waiver. So my question is, when the powers that be give the thumbs-up, do they take a look at the medical disclosure on the dodmerb site and factor that in? or is that info completely ignored until after they give the appointment?

First they look at the evaluation from DoDMERB. If it comes back cleared, it becomes a full appointment. If it comes back NPQ (not physically qualified) the academy's medical department will review to see if it is waiverable. For example, nearsightedness is NPQ, but can be waivered if the correction is within certain limits.

thanks. I would think that they would take a look before making the appointment to ensure the kid is not a total disaster. :)
