Hi, my daughter's DoDMERB page shows (regarding her remedial)
"Date reviewed Feb 11" in the top section, but both the NROTC and USNA sections show "Pending review."

First question: Why would the top section show that a review has happened, but both of the waiver authority sections say, "Pending?"

Second question: If we get past March 1st without a decision and if the waiver would then be denied, would it be too late to appeal?

Third question: If there is no waiver decision until after March 1st, what happens regarding her LOA/nomination? If her record is not "complete," does she lose the spot that's being held for LOA holders?

The date reviewed is the last time one of the DoDMERB reviewers had to "run rules", or in real people speak, had to add or remove a remedial or a disqualification. It has nothing to do with the waiver authorities as DoDMERB does not know where in the process an applicants package is until they receive a request for additional information or the waiver granted or denied decision.

The medical process is not a part of the admissions deadlines. The admissions office can give a conditional offer pending clearance of medical. I've seen applicants not get word on their medical issues (remedials outstanding, waiver decisions) until the beginning of June.

You can appeal the waiver decision as many times and for as long as you wish, up to I-day. There is no cut off. Once I-day comes around DoDMERB and the waiver authorities stop working on that classes medical items. This is only true for the academies and does not affect the ROTC applicants, their medical items are worked well past the beginning of the school year.

Does that help??

RetNavyHM to the rescue, as always! Do you realize how much you've saved us in psychoanalysts' fees??!! :thumb:

I'd be happy to take some of the savings!! :shake:

But better yet would be for everyone who has received help on this forum to stop by every now and then next year to assist someone who will be going though what you are going through right now. Let them know it is possible to make it through the maze of applications, nominations, medical and all with deadlines!! Just to know that someone has experienced something similar in the past and made it through does wonders for the level of hope!!

You can say that again. When my son was disqualified last summer, we honestly thought it was the end of the line. My son found this site and I asked you a question, and we were more than prepared with his medical records, letters from neurologists, and research to send to DODMERB, all thanks to your great advice RetNavyHM.

We were all thrilled when he got a waiver for ROTC, and then out of the blue, he got a waiver for West Point, to which he hadn't even applied. In October, he contacted our senators , send in his app, did the physical, got a nomination, and now has an appointment to West Point and will attend next year. Very unexpected, and wouldn't have happened had he given up last summer.

Don't ever give up hope for a waiver!
