Medical Waiver

I am midway through my application to USAFA and my DoDMERB Exam just came in saying that I have not met the medical standards. Nothing is wrong with me but my sister has an extremely rare disease called spondylolysis (inflammation of the back and the vertebrae can fuse together). They said I can possibly get a medical waiver. How hard is it to get the waiver and can this affect other aspects of my application?

You need to explain a little more. I’ve never heard of someone getting a medical DQ based on a condition in a first degree relative and not the applicant himself/herself.

I'm confused - how would DODMERB know anything about your sister's medical condition? What code do they list for your DQ?

Spondylolysis isnt that rare, by the way, and its not a disease. It is a stress fracture in the vertebrae, typically low lumbar.

Agree with everyone else,
The DD 2492 does not ask about family members, only the candidate.

Did you volunteer this info?

Please explain!
