Hello everyone!

I apologize if this question has already been answered. I contacted the Waiver Authority at USAFA and asked for an update on my Medical Status. Fortunately they told me that things were looking favorably for a Medical Waiver.

My question is, if USAFA takes the time to request and grant a waiver for a candidate. How
well does he/she look for an appointment. Does USAFA grant waivers and not offer appointments ?

I appreciate any response.

Does USAFA grant waivers and not offer appointments ?
Yes

Typically anyone considered qualified will be reviewed for a waiver. However, it was reported earlier that to cut costs USAFA was only processing waivers for applicants competitive or likely to get an appointment. But that is just from someone posting on an anonymous forum. You will only know for sure when you get that appointment or TWE.

Best of Luck

Thank you very much for the reply! I really appreciate it. Fortunately, I received an email by USAFA this morning saying that my Medical Waiver has been granted! One step closer and staying hopeful.

The medical people at USAFA contact you initially to notify you that you are being considered for a waiver. In that letter, on your portal, they leave contact information.

Okay. Do you have an idea on how long it will usually take them to reach out to me? It’s been a week since I was DQ, and I’m getting kinda worried given that the big wave of appointment’s coming up..

From the moment I was DQ to the moment I recieved a waiver, the entire process took months. Have you contacted your admissions councilor ? He/she may be able to tell you where your file is in regards to the waiver process. Aside from that, even though I recieved a waiver from USAFA, I still did not receive an appointment. Nothing is guaranteed. Eventually USAFA will have to notify you of their decision. They won't leave you on "disqualified" forever. I wish you the best of luck. We're all hear impatiently waiting to see if we recieve an appointment lol.

Okay. I will contact my admissions counselor and ask her where my file is with regards to the waiver process. I was meaning to contact her as soon as I saw it, but I’ve been talking to her almost every day so I gave it a little break lol!

Best of luck to us! All the sleepless nights will be worth it in the end...
