I have an LOA and have received a nomination. The only thing I am waiting on is a medical wavier for ACL reconstruction surgery I had in late May. The wavier has been requested by West Point already. I was wondering how long a wavier of this nature usually takes to be approved? The wavier was requested on November 1st, and my file says waviers usually take 90-120 days to be approved should I expect to wait the full 120 days?

Are you able to help anyone? I’m prior service with a reenlistment code of 1 and currently navigating the DoDMERB medical process. I seem to be in a waiting stage with them—do you have any advice or insight on how to move forward?

Unfortunately, Mr. Mullen has retired and does not seem to frequent these forums anymore. However, @GoCubbies has stepped up to fill that gap.

Did you do your physical and eye exams yet?

I’ve completed everything and am just waiting on two waivers, though I’m a bit nervous about them. I was seen once last year for a headache and have some hearing loss in my left ear, due to my work environment while I was in. Since then, my hearing has actually improved, and I recently passed three separate hearing tests. I sent all that information in, but I’m concerned it might still be something they could see as an automatic rejection. I haven’t claimed any disability or anything like that.

Also, I have a reenlistment code of 1, so initially, I was confused about why I was flagged. My case manager explained that officer candidates face different medical standards compared to enlisted, which makes sense. But I feel that if I’m eligible to reenlist, I should be able to pursue ROTC.

Just wondering if there’s any timeline for this or any chance these waivers could be approved.
