Hello all,

As of right now, my USAFA portal says "Complete but medically disqualified." It has said this since February 12th, and I was wondering if anyone else is or has been in the same situation. If so, how long? I am starting to get worried as the clock is ticking and appointments will be given out around March, I believe. I know that USAFA only requests waivers for people they deem are going to receive an appointment, but how long does that decision take? I was talking to my admissions counselor the other day and he said that my application had already been reviewed so would a decision have already been made? Thank you all in advance!

Not sure if this will help, but I received a Congressional nomination in late January. My Senator's office also called me to tell me I received a nomination from him, however, since I already had a Congressional nomination, they said they could not give me that one.

My Disqualification is for a history of slight hydronephrosis. I sent in letters and medical records from my nephrologist to DoDMERB during the remedial process, so hopefully that will help me. Thanks once again!

Hang tight, decisions may take days, weeks, or months. It depends on so many variables. Concentrate on schoolwork and staying fit. Good luck!

I've been trying to hang tight. Just seeing "Disqualified" on my portal is rather discouraging. I guess I just have to focus on other things because it is completely out of my control at this point

That's the spirit! Applicants should leave the stress to the parents. [emoji4]

I’m in the same exact situation, but mine happened on the 14th.

Looking forward to positive news for the both of us, and to others who may be in the same situation!

My son has a nomination and is otherwise qualified, but was medically disqualified about two months ago for a mild tree nut allergy. Our understanding is that since there are two other candidates in our congressional district who are fully qualified, a waiver will not be processed. In light of this, he has moved on emotionally to plans b, c, and d. Wishing you better luck, it's definitely a bummer after the long application process.

How did you find out about the two other qualified candidates? Is there a way I can find out how many candidates are qualified in my district?

Please keep me updated on your status. If I get word of my status, I will be sure to let you know. Good luck brotha!

They asked for a Remedial from me today. But it was because the examiner forgot something in one of my medical forms.

From the emails that I read, they will determine if I’m eligible for a Medical Waiver once all the Remedials are settled with.

To clarify...DoDMERB will determine Q or DQ. If you are DQ'd, the academy or the ROTC program reviews your file and determines if they will pursue a waiver or request additional medical information (AMI).

DoDMERB does not make any decision about a candidate being waived or not.

Last year when I applied for USAFA. They actually granted me a waiver. The entire process took several months. Unfortunately, even with a waiver granted, I wasn't offered an appointment. Yes a waiver is a positive sign but it's not a guaranteed road to an appointment. Don't lose hope though! I applied again for 2022 still waiting for an answer.

I was curious about this so I read up on it, read paragraph 5B if your application says “Complete but Medically Disqualified.”
