Hello, I am currently a senior in highschool and am applying to the USAFA. Today, I logged onto my application portal and saw that I have been Medically Disqualified, but when I checked DODMERB for more details it still says my current medical status is " Under DoDMERB Review ." I believe I am medically sound aside from the fact that I have glasses and have certain food allergies, more specifically tree nuts. I do not know where to go from here in the process of getting medically qualified, if possible, so any guidance would be much appreciated.

Go to the DODMERB forum, go to the top and read Mr. Mullen's instructions...and from there the path to at least excellent information and advice will be revealed.

Not trying to be dramatic, I'm just tired and don't remember precisely where to look.

Hey! I was also medically disqualified but received a waiver. I do just want to say getting a waiver is doable. The hardest thing is the wait. Referring to your DODMERB portal, it probably just hasn't updated. Soon it should say medically disqualified and give you a code. There is a page(listed on the side as Medical Codes) on the DODMERB website that has all the codes on them and explains what it means. Some are disqualifying and some are remedial, but whatever you get make sure to follow instructions that will appear in your portal. For example, for USAFA, I had to go to a dermatologist to get me skin check, but for USMA, I just had to wait 2 months for a waiver. It will tell you what to do in your portal. Glasses are not disqualified unless you have an uncorrectable blindness or just extremely extremely bad vision. Food allergies are disqualifying, but I know my sister at USMA has a friend with a nut allergy too, so they are waiverable.
Good luck!
