For the USNA Class of ’22, this will be your last Christmas as a Midshipman. Next near, heaven knows where you will be as a commissioned officer. Many servicemembers will spend their Christmas abroad, deployed, on duty or away from loved ones. Enjoy your time at home. This Christmas card is from one of my times abroad in Italy:

So, here’s to you, '22 and Brigade classes ’23, ’24 and ’25 returning home to family and loved ones. May your reunion be as joyous as the ending scenes of It’s a Wonderful Life. My wish for all in 2022 is that you are healthy, your burdens are manageable, and that you receive what truly matters most in your hearts.

Great post. I’m struggling realizing our DS is almost half way through this USNA journey. How fast the time flies.
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night.
I really appreciate this forum and the friends I have made here. The banter, the humor, the sarcasm, the wit, the life experiences and military experience shared here. It is invaluable.

The bacon. The cocktails. The animal family.

Thank you, @WT Door!

This week, we travelled back to our former town to visit DW’s parents. My DFIL, who is in his 90s, spent a year with the Army in Korea during the, ahem, police action. He speaks proudly of that experience — the young immigrant who escaped Nazis and Soviets to then serve his new country, stamping him as an American even if full citizenship was not yet acquired. I’ve seen photos of him dressed in fatigues, standing with buddies around a fire, trying to stave off the frigid Korean winter.

So it was with his own pride that DS yesterday told his DGF that when he becomes a commissioned Army officer, he’ll possibly be stationed in Korea too. This brought a bright smile to DGF’s face, as he recognized the trajectory he helped launch upon stepping off a steamship in Boston so many decades ago as a near-penniless immigrant. He has two grandchildren poised to become officers, because they too are grateful for what America has given them.

We are blessed to live in such a country. Merry Christmas to all!

Wait 🤔

Is it wrong I’m ready for mine to go back already??

JKJK…but….I can down MORNING ONE and every cupboard was open. Fiends sleeping over. Every light on. Tv on. They had been up all night having a really, really good time 😑 Made a few TikTok recipes. IF ONLY pops and I didn’t have jobs and had the youthfulness required to stay up all night….we tried.

Seriously, SO GREATTT to seee that. But that’s enough 😬

Merry Christmas (our tradition) to everyone. Or whatever tradition you celebrate 🌟 💫

It’s Christmas Christmas Eve ….

I want everyone to take a break from posting here on the Forum and get those Food bowls out … get those Food preparations going … get the Ovens and Grills hot and ready …

Pull that Roast Beast out of the refrigerator and pack it with Pepper corns, Sea salt and Garlic …

Get a Fire going in all your fireplaces and wood stoves…

Get the festive music going…

Chop chop …

Aye, aye, am making the ginger snaps right now, the annual mammoth batch.

Can I come to your place for Christmas dinner ...I'll even bring my Big Green Egg to cook the Roast Beast !
(I got stuck doing Turkey this year -- it was great , but not Roast Beef ! DW gives youngest daughter too much say in menu selection.)
