I didn't realize that that happens. I was in no way implying anything to do with becoming disabled. Hope I didn't offend anyone.
 
I didn't take it that way, and I'm not 100% disabled.

The comment was an ignorant one from a high school friend who thought folks in the military don't pay taxes.

WaMom68 - I was wondering the same thing! Any concern about illegal use of a Govt computer could have been easily alleviated by a simple pm or it could have been discussed on the "chat" like so many other burning issues are.

When someone wants to threaten a member of the forum, maybe it is best to assume the entire forum should see it.

I know this is drastic, but think of the reason families are informed when a sexual predator buys a house in their neighborhood...

I know, I know, they're not the same thing.

Do you want someone lurking who has been banned before intimidating posters on this forum? I don't think so.

The person stepped over the line and was banned, as was appropriate. That person was a repeat offender who has been banned in the past. If anyone is being threatened on the forum by another member, there is no need to sweep in under the rug, pretend it never happened, and just have people disappear. That person was able to respond to the post, but did not. That person wanted to throw insults and threats out of the public eye.

I realize he was your friend JAM, and I can promise you, that fact alone wouldn't have led to my posting the PM (while not disclosing his name), however, I can't count on one hand the amount of "buring issues" that aren't chatted about or handled in a pm.

Like I said - a simple explanation that you peruse the forums on your Blackberry on your own time would go far. IIRC - you threatened a poster on here a while back with contacting a mutual aquaintance when the poster didn't agree with your points of view. I suppose now we should equate everyone who "steals" a few minutes of time a child molester? My goodness what a stretch.

Ah well - don't drag the forum down with your drivel LITS. One thing I learned from my Dad, a Retired AF Officer, is to avoid even the perception of wrong doing. It's not enough to be innocent. It's about being above the fray.
Seriously though, I think the reason you did it was for your own ego boost.

So you wanted others to know a member was throwing "insults and threats out of the public eye" but how would this help other members if we don't even know who it is we need to watch out for?

I don't think letting the moderators handle it is sweeping it under the rug or pretending it didn't happen.

I felt like you posted it because you were searching for validation. JMO
 
Just let the mods deal with it. If they think LITS did something wrong then let them take care of it.

I do not think that LITS intentions were to boost his ego. This is a fourm, who cares about your ego. I mean seriously are we like 5?

I didn't say he did it for an ego boost, I said validation...as in have others validate that he has done nothing wrong.

All I did was ask a question...LITS can chose to answer it or not.

If the original pm had been left for the mods to handle, I wouldn't be asking these questions.
 
Valid question WAMom, no, not validation. I received that after talking to some coworkers. While I appreciate forum members incite and comments, when it comes to the job, I generally talk to coworkers. The feedback I got was what I expected.

Also, this was not the first time I received a negative pm from that member. This member continuously posted under the "protection" of PMs. It did not "hurt" that member to have it posted (as they were not identified), however that member should have understand that I would not be intimidated by threatning PMs.

And yes, the original PM was handled by the Mods.

This would qualify as a "personal attack" if I've ever seen one. I would love to know who exactly I "attacked" by commenting on a mutual aquaintence...

As far as I know, I know of two people on this forum that I probably know someone who knows someone....USNA69 (knew his classmate and told him this long before things headed south between us) and kp2001, a friend of mine who graduated a year after him. I may have told him that in a PM though. Who else? I can't think of anyone. I also don't think of either of those being attacks.

I do think calling my comments "annoy" or "drivel" or equating my actions to "a child molester" would be considered "attacks".
