I know that for the other SAs, you MOC has a chance to call you and tell you of your appointment. Is that the same case with USMMA? Or will you only get a portal change followed by a letter?

Yes, it could be your MOC. In our experience, the MOC called, followed in a day or so by a FedEx and then the portal changed.

My son received an email from his MOC that noms were in and when he checked his portal it was there. Shortly after that he received the FedEx letter with LOA, and then a few days later his portal changed.

does anyone know when admissions starts offering hold candidates appointments? is it after all principal appointments are offered or could one be on "hold status" and still receive a principal appointment? I received a reassuring email from LTCDR Becker saying that I would "likely be accepted" and then I was placed on hold. Does anyone know how many people are on the hold list or what the chances are of a hold candidate getting appointed? Thanks,

I am on hold status as well, but I had to email my admissions officer due to my portal status blanking out and he told me I was high on the hold list and to just hold out a little while longer. This time last year I was already notified QNS for about a month so making it this far is an accomplishment. Just need to hold out together and take it day by day.

Thats good that your admissions officer said you're high on the list. Was there any mention of how many people are on the list, I don't know how high I am but obviously the higher the better right?

He did not. He just said I was high on the list and to hold out. Anyone who is still on hold is obviously on the radar for a spot depending on circumstances like the undecided accepting or declining, people being granted medical waivers or not, other candidates waiting to hear from other academies because USMMA is usually a backup plan for many candidates who do not get into the D1 academies, some candidates might be on the receiving end of a serious injury that prevents them from attending indoc and their appointment unfortunately has to be given up......there's just a lot of situations that go into it so I would say, again, that if you are still on hold to this date, you're good and just have to ride out the storm. I was given my QNS last year in early to mid March so I'm just glad to have made it this far.

USMMA is proudly one of the five Federal Service Academies. It is NOT a D2 or D3 Academy. Please note that anyone should be proud and honored to gain an appointment at USMMA--the ONLY Academy to have the distinction for carrying a battle standard recognizing the 142 cadet midshipmen who gave their all during times of war. I am proud to have my son have the honor of attending Kings Point.

I never said anything bad about it. I meant D1 as the athletic division they are in. KP is the only service academy I have applied to and is my #1 choice. No harm meant.
