My son just sent me this link to an article in the WP.

He also sent along his comment.

He said someone brought this up at a Staff meeting today, all were in agreement that they would much rather see some of that money that would be spent on such a spectacle be spent on more Aircraft repairers and some added flight time so at least a few of the pilots could make their minimum flight hours without needing waivers.

The foreign legion marches at a special slow cadence with their legs splayed out. As a testament to their legendary bravery, the Pioneers are in the vanguard. They get to wear beards and aprons of buffalo leather and carry axes. You can almost hear their nuts clanking. Will our troops have to learn to sing in French?

Men and women in uniform marching down Main St. is never a bad thing—for those marching or those watching. We can honor the troops without bothering with the hardware.

Wow..the WAPO worrying about a rounding error in the DOD budget to bring some hardware down Pennsylvania Avenue. They eagerly support the billons spent on manpower programs that siphon off OMNR dollars and do nothing to increase the effective and efficient killing of the enemy...

The people criticizing Trump for wasting money on a grand military parade are the same folks that have no problem with wasting tax payers dollars on these ridiculous SAPR and "anti-bullying" training programs everyone in the military has to complete. Frankly, I'd rather have the damn parade.

I hope they kept the tenor of those remarks congruent with the respect we show elected officials regardless of party as mandated by both customs of the service and UCMJ particularly if this was an official unit meeting like command and staff or a training meeting. I have never heard anything borderline political in 16 years of sitting in those gatherings.

Leave the hardware at home. Get the local ( D.C. area ) troops to do a pass and review down Pennsylvania Avenue then over to the mall at the end where most of the war memorials are and throw them a kegger and cookout for the rest of the afternoon. [emoji631][emoji631][emoji631]

Sat in plenty of those meetings myself, and disagreement does not equal disrespect as long as you maintain respect.

This is about a lot more than the money. Do we really want our folks spending the time and effort on the logistics of loading a bunch of equipment and personnel on rail cars, buses and airplanes to get it all to DC.

Besides, someone needs to tell the President that what he wants is what the Chinese, N. Koreans, Russians, Indians and the French (for goodness sake) do. We are exceptional and our lack of need to show off is just one aspect of it.

With everything going on in the world and in the US at this very moment, President Trump is asking for a full blown "French-style" military parade. It reminds of Otter in Animal House. His response to the Frat House being shutdown is to have road trip.

The only thing more obnoxious than the President's adolescent neediness is the Dems' infantile responses.

There are great parades that happen regularly at NTC. It would be more of a realistic training kind of parade though. It would also be a much better representation of our forces than a "formal" parade.

Just show a clip of a previous military parade on Fox News. Trump will think it happened and it will be done with. He will take credit for the biggest and most beautiful military parade in history.

Now back to your regularly scheduled programming....

Now that was funny....the following article about the credit scores about made me fall off my chair.
