DS is waiting for SAT scores from an SAT test this month. He is testing again this Saturday. He is on the fence about applying early action vs. regular action. He has a strong package otherwise... high class rank, lots of APs, 4.0, varsity athletics, meaningful community service, leadership, etc. He is trying to decide on a cut-off...if my scores are above _____ then I will do early action. Any suggestions to fill in the blank?

The question he should be asking is will my early decision application be my strongest? Will he take the SAT again prior to regular admissions deadline in the hope of an improvement?

Yes, he is signed up for the November and December tests. The only worry is that they will be cancelled and he will have missed his opportunity to apply early action. I did just find a post from 2018 that had the avg SAT score for early action accepted applicants at 675 reading/710 math. I know every year is different, but it is something to consider.

I would stress average. There will be some higher and some lower. It’s a difficult decision to make. My DS decided to go Early Action because he felt that was his best option. He was offered CGAS and is now at NAPS.

I applied EA. My admissions officer could not guarantee but said some applicants roll over from EA into RA. I had my interview this past weekend. I am re-taking the SAT this weekend and even though scores come out (Oct 16th) after the EA deadline of Oct 15th, he told me to submit them.

As Drenns3 said, you can submit new information to your application after submitting it. SAT scores, new PRs for sports, grades from first quarter, improved PFE scores, etc...anything that could help the application could still be considered. My daughter had a very strong EA application last year, but she still submitted her first quarter grades, class rank (since they didn't find out rank until October of senior year), selection as Team Captain of her team, and a few other updates just to show that she was keeping her foot on the gas and going strong through senior year.

How did you submit additional scores? We have unfortunately not had luck with our admissions counselor responding to emails so I would be nervous to just email them to him/her.

I send everything to my Admissions Officer. He usually responds in 24-48 hours.

My daughter sent any updates to her Admissions Officer. She also sent to the Coach just to keep him informed.
