Hello,

I was wondering how bad one speeding ticket looks on my application? I was fully transparent with this incident and stated I sped up (55 in a 40) to merge into another lane. I received this ticket during the summer, driving alone, and on my way to work.

Thank you all

Many old threads on this topic.

The majority indicate no problems unless involving alcohol or reckless driving.

Just make sure you are straight up about it. Go to traffic school to negate financial impact if this is allowed in your jurisdiction.

You should be fine.

I can't say for certain, but 55 in a 40 barely raises a brow for me. Based on those old threads, I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Based on what I’ve read in other threads, as long as you disclose it you should be fine. Just learn from it and don’t let it happen again.

Short answer?

If it's not "criminal" then nobody cares.

Seriously...they don't unless you make a big deal about it.

Press on!!!

Just report it and don't worry about it. Drive carefully in the meantime.

they won't care about the violation, and even less about any explanation.
