My DS was offered a 3 year Minuteman scholarship and has just ended his Freshman year in college. I noticed online it only mentions 4 year scholarships. Does anyone know how many years he will serve after he graduates? Will it be they same as a 4 year awardee?
He has not received notification by letter yet just from hearing from the ROO and the reserve recruiter.
Thank you for your help.

Thank you. He hasn’t received official word he has the scholarship but has it “conditionally”. When he goes to MEPS do you know if he can QNE and take the oath once he receives official notice he has the scholarship. He does not want to enlist as a private but as an E5 which the scholarship will afford him.

He’ll enlist as a 09R if he has the GRFD in hand. Once he contracts he’ll be paid as an E5 and be a “cadet” for rank. Understand if he quits or is disenrolled from ROTC he is a private and is shipped to Basic Training.

From what I understand it is very hard to go AD after graduation from college with a minuteman scholarship even if he were to graduate from a SMC.

Reviving this thread, is it possible to use Merit Aid with the Minuteman Scholarship? Would it be possible to use merit for the room&board, and use Minuteman for Tuition?
