My son recieved his DOD medical back failed as there is an error on it. We were in a panic yesterday as he is ED. Any suggestions? We have contacted our Doctor to email the help desk oif DOD and Admissions but so frustrating if he doesnt get accepted due to an error. This has been one rough day. We are trying to be postive and hope for the best. I hope all of your children get accepted. Any advice on the DOD error?

Do you mean his initial submission? I would suggest he call the DODMETs number. They should be able to at least let you know what the specific error is and how to fix it. Is there a problem with what your son submitted, or did he already have his DODMERB medical and eye test and there is an error on one of those forms? That is not uncommon. Sometimes the doctor forgets to sign or to fill out a particular field. DODMETs can let you know the specific problem. This happened to my daughter 4 years ago, and she called the doctor to help speed along the process of him fixing and resubmitting.

Also, admissions and DODMERB are completely separate processes. Many applicants who still need to complete medical or who are DQ'd and are hoping for a waiver will receive a conditional appointment. There is plenty of time to get an error on the medical form fixed.

My DS had a similar experience to ProudMom7. His DODMETS status was progressing until it wasn't and placed "on hold". I contacted DODMETS at the number on their site and the case reviewer explained 1 of the 4 pages of his medical exam was not legible. After some chasing, it finally was "closed" with a note that DODMERB's reviews process is ~2-4 weeks.

If the issue is later in the process post DODMERB review (ie specifically a doctor's recording error), I'd suggest the DODMERB forum on this site which has lots of information on prior experiences including conditions, errors and waivers. The search function may also be helpful as could other forums that have more volume than USCGA.

My DD failed due to her pediatrician writing the word asthma on her file years ago. However after switching doctors and seeing a specialist it was found she was simply allergic to our cats. We reached out to her AO and he said it would not be a problem to get a waiver for her if she's accepted.

something to keep in mind, is that being cleared medically (qualified by DODMERB), doesn’t mean he will be appointed. Lots of people who are qualified academically, physically and medically will not ultimately receive an appointment, unfortunately.

Best practice is to proceed forward with your plan B’s, etc.

Thank you we are in a similar situation. He is does not have an allergy, but was checked off for bee stings. I am making an appt to see an allergist to rule out asap. Thanks for responding, it would be heart breaking for him not to get in for an error we have no control over.

Yes, I totally understand that we have a plan b but it would be terrible if that was the reason for not getting in.
