The ultimate feel good…did you happen to catch it? 30 yr anniversary of the movie. Highest rated MLB game ever. Intro had allllll the feels, even to this non-baseball fan viewer. It reminded me of an Army-Navy football game intro.

I think the timing of this game was part of the draw. We are STARVED for a feel good story. This did it for Me. Teared up when they walked out of the corn.

Was watching Jeopardy and Joe Buck is the guest host. Turned it to the game and Joe is announcing.

"Foouul ball into the right side corn." He ain't his daddy, few people are, but he's doing a good job behind the mic in his own right.

Awesome.

I think more than any sport, the love of baseball is passed from parent to child.

I remember decades ago, my dad and I listening to Vin Scully on those warm summer evenings. *sniff*.

Loved the movie. I didn't realize until later that the game wasn't played on the original field. It's not regulation size. I think MLB built another field across from it for the game.

Yes

I got my husband to that movie in the theater by swearing to him it was an historical baseball movie. With the ocular moisture gleaming in his eyes at the theater, he accusingly glared at me, but grumbled later “it was a pretty good story.” Of course, I also dragged him to “Bull Durham” with the same line. 🤣

Agreed. One of my fondest memories is of the road trip DS and I took from California to Michigan on his way to report for NSI freshman year. We stopped for games in Denver, Kansas City, St. Louis and Chicago. We were also on the path of the full solar eclipse at the right time, with a few hour detour to get there, but the weather did not cooperate with that experience and we took in the Harley museum in Milwaukee.

I loved all the details, especially the old school score board. The crew in paperboy hats leaning on the wood rail waiting to changing out the numbers....nice touch!

I thought Costner would throw a first pitch. Walked right on past the mound with the ball in his hand.

Fun Fact...there were storms that went through earlier. Wrecked/bent some of the corn. Some of what was seen for the game was actually supported with rebar. Another fun fact. The owner of that homestead has tried to make a go of the place for a while...just not a lot of interest to make it a financial hit early on. He chose to not plant the field after the movie. Loosing lots of money. He also believed...and it has turned around for him.

True, the game wasn't played on the field from the movie...but rather a walk through the corn (a pathway) to one built by MLB just for this. Drone footage is pretty cool. They have said it will happen again next year! They have already booked hotel rooms! All in all, it was excellent. Great weather, amazing sunset...couldn't have had a better turnout.

I loved all of the hype leading up to the game. Tried to watch the game but had to turn it off after 2 innings. There was 1 fan in the stands sitting front row directly behind home plate wearing a mask down around her chin the entire time. That girls chin was definitely not going to get/give covid.

Although, since my wife recorded the game, I just went back and see that she took the mask totally off after the top of the 3rd. I guess I just didn't give it enough time.

I lived in St. Louis back when his daddy was on the air. Liked him. However, I share Brockmire’s opinion of the kid. It’s just a matter of personal taste.
