We have a son at another service academy and bought him an engraved lighter with the service crest on it for Christmas a few years ago. Have been trying to find one with MMA crest for a couple of years online but to no avail...DS said that someone at KP has one, anyone know where to find them?

Some lighters are banned on ships (I forget which ones).
I know that the butane type are pretty dangerous. Certainly not a good thing to have in one's pocket when burning or welding. Same goes for a lot of offshore installations, too. I carried a Zippo for years when I smoked and sailed. Being able (or not) to carry/use a lighter was just one of many factors that caused me to quit smoking.
Last Christmas my son gave me a zippo lighter with the USMMA crest engraved. We switched out the zippo fluid part for an aftermarket butane insert. He said a another Mid had them made up and bought it from him. Can't find out for sure right now because he is out to sea. He is in Third Co, perhaps your mid can ask around that group.
