Howdy y’all,
I recently began looking into various prep schools for USMA. I am a little bit unsure of the process of attending MMI. Are students given scholarships from USMA to attend MMI without applying to MMI?
or, do I apply separately to the Marion Military Institute? If so, when does this open for high schoolers?

(Sorry about the newbie questions dudes:thumb:)

I'm assuming you're a high school senior starting your applications to USMA. There are two flavors of prep students...sponsored and self-prep. A sponsored prep will be receiving a scholarship from the AOG (alumni association). You cannot apply for it, but it USMA admissions recommends scholarships based on your USMA application. Once you receive an AOG scholarship, you then apply to MMI (automatic acceptance).

As a self-prep, you attend MMI on your own dime. Since MMI is a two-year college, they have a similar application process as other schools. You can contact MMI now and tell them of your interest in prepping for West Point. The admissions people will be happy to work with you and get you on track. Should you recieve an AOG scholarship they'll be able put you right into the next class.

Recap: You can contact MMI at any time and tell them of your interest. Just let them know about the progress in your application to West Point.

Thank you very much. This clears up things more for me.

If you're going into your senior year I also recommend applying to west point as they may give you the AOG or prep school option and in that case you'd pay a lot less. Never count yourself out bud
