Just checked my portal and saw under nominations that I had received a congressional nomination. However, I have not received any official notice from the congresswoman's office. Could this be a glitch in the system?

No! You got it. They don't always notify people.

Are you perhaps on your way to Grenada soon?

Congratulations on the nomination! I don't think this can be a glitch. Its up to the congresswoman to notify/not notify you and the method of notification. If it is a postal mail that might get to you later after it reflects in the portal.

My son's nom showed up in his portal just like that and a couple of days later he received a voicemail letting him know he'd been chosen.

Yes, many times the person in the MOC’s office notifying is different than person uploading the information. For most house members the nominations are handled through their “district” offices in home areas but because (at least used to be) the congressman / woman has to sign forms certifying the nominations, because of this some times the uploads to portals are from DC offices - and at different times. As in my son’s (2X) case he got a call after seeing it appear in his portal and never got a call with any of his appointments. it real just depends on the MOC and their office. If it shows in your portal I would take it as a sure thing! Good luck to you and thank you for your willingness to serve.

You may never hear anything from your MOC or their staff - not that your received a nomination and you may not hear anything if you receive an offer of appointment. I hope you do. It depends a lot on your MOC and whether or not there is a change due to election etc. case in point - my DS. He was nominated by our Congressman and one of our senators and never received the so-called “call”. It won’t matter.

My son received his nomination in his portal on Dec.9th. He did not receive an email nor a phone call. Yesterday in the mail he just received the certificate of the nomination. So, be patient! Trust the portal!!

Our sons received a total of 5 noms, collectively. 2 yrs apart. One change of MOC.

There was one notification.

It’s completely normal be notified. It’s completely normal to not be notified.

Celebrate the checkmark ✅!
