Mold issue

Son got diagnosed with UC then Crohn's. The meds from GI doctors did nothing but by seeing a diet specialist and getting off their meds he was playing rugby 2 months later. Then diet specialist saw he had signs of mold so took him to a doctor who specializes in mold. And his tests showed diet specialist was right. He was exposed to mold at his high school and mold doctor also told us the acne meds he was on were actually making things worse (of course now that mold is being treated all his acne is gone). Son is on 3 year ROTC (he starts at school in August). he just took eye exam but we had held off on medical until we got some clarity on this issue. Looks like we now have a diagnosis of mold and not UC or Crohn's. QUestion is what is the best way to approach this when he take his medical?

I would go with the last diagnosis which would be the mold. Don't bring up UC or Crohn's at all. The thing to understand about the medical examination is that it is a self report checklist followed by a medical exam that looks for obvious issues and anything you put on the checklist. They can't request your entire medical record. They only request records when you report something on the checklist or they find something in the exam and those records they do request are only specific to the issue.

While this may be true, one thing to keep in mind is that often you don’t KNOW what’s in the records. If they request DR’s notes, they very well may (and probably would in this situation I am assuming...) refer to previous treatments/diagnosis. So it may come up anyhow. And then you are in the situation of withholding information.

that's what we are trying to figure out how does he respond to any digestive order question on the form or from doctor. Last diagnosis would be mold, but initial ones contradict this, dont want to deceive but looks like mold the cause. Other issue is egos of GI doctors, they clearly missed this one and one of them does not seem to happy he messed up, seems more interested in being right instead of son's health. Even if he would get DQ this stays on his medical record (he had to go for stitches and first thing doctor brings up is he had severe crohns (this was before the mold diagnosis) so this affects him for the rest of his life

I would try to be sure the diet docs records show the Chron's was a misdiagnosis. If you can get the GI doc records to show the same then you're probably OK with going with the latest diagnosis. I'm no expert, just applying my common sense. Keep in mind my wife often tells me I'm wrong.

Yes, he is a member. I believe that Washington University of St. Louis is his Alma Mater, but he loves his Chicago Cubs. :D

I just sent you a private message.

I am a Wash U alum too. Protestors burned the AROTC and AFROTC buildings at Wash U in 1970

For every yes you answer on the self-reporting exam sheet that DODMERB sends you, be prepared to have an answer and will probably need a doctor record to accompany it. We were fortunate that all care came from one or two places so it made it easy to come up with records.

Highly recommend that you reach out to @GoCubbies. He is very knowledgeable about Army DoDMERB standards.
I please some ignorance is @GoCubbies a member? Saw the Wash U flag actually from St. Louis

Greetings! My DD is a rising senior at WashU. She wants to go to medical school, so she decided to go to a school that is absolutely brutal academically and with no grade inflation. Not sure why she did that, but she's enjoyed everything about the school so far. Hasn't regretted her choice at all.

Not an alum of WashU. My HS grades wouldn't have made it in probably, so I had to go to VMI instead. o_O

Will look for your PM.
