I saw a mom another forum mention her son asked for money for the baseball game the plebes attend at the end of the summer. Are they allowed to receive money?

I think it was suggested that they bring some cash with them to Plebe Summer (DS took $100, I think). He hasn't mentioned needing other money since then. His wallet was taken along with his phone, ID, etc... but maybe they get it back for the baseball game?

DS had some pocket cash when we left him at I Day. I believe the baseball game is the first public outing where the Plebes wear their summer whites (?). When we saw him at PPW he said that a kind and generous individual he described as "a mom" paid for his and his buddy's orders at the snack bar - they were surprised, and thanked her.

I'm wondering if I throw $20 in his next letter, if he'll get in trouble for having money (if others have theirs in storage with their wallets etc). I doubt there is any cash in his. We took the "you can show up with the clothes on your back literally" so the kid didn't have a calculator for placement exams...did a lot of mental math...

If anything, I am sure a thoughtful company mate will spot your Plebe some cash. DS arrived home on Saturday looking like a homeless waif - borrowed civilian clothes from a classmate that were 3 times his size. We have come to learn ... and appreciate ... that, in our DS' case, Mids help one another.

They will give them their wallets back for try game. At the game they can use the ATM and snack bars. Most plebes eat a lot of food at the game. Nothing wrong with slipping a $20 just in case. The Detailers won't take their money.

Does anyone know when the game is? Our DS grew up in DC and had his 10th birthday at a Baysox game. We used to go see the Baysox all the time, especially before the Nats came to town. He collected lots of Eastern League baseballs. I know he's really looking forward to going back to a game.

Baysox schedule says August 5 is "Navy Night" sponsored by NFCU. Assume that's it?
Correct- so grateful how supportive Annapolis & the surrounding communities are & have been of the The Academy.

From the Baysox ticket website: https://www.ticketreturn.com/prod2/BuyNew.asp?EventID=176590#
'ANCHORS AWEIGH... The Baysox and Navy Federal Credit Union welcomes you to our 17th annual NAVY NIGHT! Please help us say THANK YOU to the men and women, support staff and families whose service ensures our freedom!'

They are also a great tourist attraction in Annapolis and Annapolis loves it, not so much at USMA as it is out in the middle of nowhere. USAFA I don't know. Foreign tourists do love taking pictures with Mids in their Whites. DD made the mistake of answering question in Chinese. Could not get away from them until all family with the kids had pictures taken with an American that spoke Chinese.

Baysox???

We ('94) went to see the O's at Memorial Stadium in "Bawlmer, hon"!

Guess that makes me Grumpy Old Grad!

They went away from Orioles in the last 10 years or so - easier logistics, less pricey, etc.
