Monken

There were some rumors, but didn’t make sense to me. Most big schools don’t run triple option. I doubt Coach Monkton will suddenly do something else (football wise) because he is at a big school. I believe Paul Johnson had an average record at best at Georgia Tech after leaving Navy. So for Coach Monkton to go to another school, either that school wants to try triple option and they believe Coach Monkton can transform himself.

I met Jeff and Coach Ken (Navy) when they were assistants with Paul Johnson at Navy. They both have the best places to coach D1 football in the country. People called Ken crazy for not taking the BYU job a few years ago. He knew the grass is greener where he’d been watering it.

Agree with the above. Coach Monken is a long time offensive minded coach and that offense is the flexbone triple option. Paul Johnson went 189-100 at Georgia Tech.

Too late to edit above.

Coach Paul Johnson went 82-61 at Ga Tech. 189-100 is his overall W-L record.

It must be time for contract negotiation. Coach Monken has proved effective against Navy. It’s always good to be seen chatting with other suitors. A successful coach can always settle in and become the long-time coach of an “era,” or use current success as a steppingstone to bigger programs, bigger salaries and a boost up the ladder to one of the big conferences and a shot at the big bowls or even the national championship.

Its Monken. Mike Houston ran the TO at Lenoir-Rhyne and The Citadel then had to take over a spread option offense at Madison and East Carolina, coaches have to be adaptable so if the money and situation are right Jeff will take the plunge. The lure of a Power 5 job will eventually be too much of a temptation.
