Most sought after Airframes in Flight School?

That's the difference between an MV-22 and a CV-22.

The MH-65 is an interesting bird, though underpowered. I was really intrigued by the floor-mounted torque gauge.

If you think the MH-65 is underpowered, you should have felt the HH-65 (pre-reengining). Of course, they did add more weight to the 65 too, with the new engines. I say "new" but I'm pretty sure this was almost a decade ago now.

No, it would not. Kinda hoses the guys you're hauling, too, if you punch out.

The Russians put one on the Ka-50 series. Very complex system.

I was actually thinking along the lines of the attack helicopters, not transport helicopters, though I do see what you are saying.

I'll be happy to get flight school straight out of the Academy, and worry about platform later.

Doing HITRON on the MH-65 would be really cool though :thumb:

Looks pretty cool, I have no idea whether I would prefer fixed or rotor yet though. I suppose it's two completely different worlds from what you guys have posted.

Flight School will definitely be first priority though (if I choose that, lots of opportunities).

If God hated me and made me fly a fixed-wing aircraft, I'd want to be an A-10 driver. Barring that, I think I'd probably fly a Super Hornet. C-17 would be a close third.

Don't ever underestimate the value of an aircraft you can take a piss in.

I love the idea of an AC-130 raining down some pretty nasty @#$% on folks while slowly circling. I was able to watch it at a range state-side and it put the little dinky 25mm on the bow of my old cutter to shame.

Maybe if they armed the Osprey similarly it would rank higher on some lists?

Well, if someone held a gun to my cranium and told me I had to go to work in something that beat the air into submission rather than turn JP-8 into un-godly amounts of thrust to gracefully soar through the air, I guess I'd settle for a Apache Longbow. Second to that? Maybe a Kiowa. Third? Do I have to choose a 3rd whirly-bird?

Never underestimate the fact that EVERYTHING, either in the air or on the ground, is a target to you more than they are a threat. And dominating them at Mach + is simply cool..... :thumb:

Question for Scout and others: how do you get a slot on the "m" series helicopters that don't have a "normal" equivalent in the big army (like the little bird)?

And you would have to thank that gun-wielding person for making a real pilot out of you.

Yeah, I may eventually thank him. It may take me FOREVER to get to him if I had to get to his position at the speed of "hurt turtle" that I would be forced to live with in a helo, though....

And if he was 100 miles behind enemy lines, I would have to wait until the fast jets removed the threat so I can safely get there anyway (still at "hurt turtle" speed). :shake:

The speed of a jet is great. Too bad it's all used to get to the tanker (doesn't the AF give an air medal per tanker turn?).

The beauty of penetrating air defenses is that we "hurt turtles" can fly 0-25 feet AHO.

But the best thing about being a "hurt turtle?" In the post sequestration world...we're still flying!

Both career paths took the job because they didn't like hair cuts and love hot shirtless beach volleyball games with their "buddies". I think that's the common ground you guys can find.

I seem to recall that being a habit of a sea-going service.
