Hi all, my application for the Class of 2023 just changed to Hold Status today. I have my Nomination from my Congressional Representative, and just finished my DODMERB exams today. I haven't played many sports in high school, but have compensated with Leadership roles in Extracurricular Activities and Community Service(Over 800 hours). My school sent my 7th Semester Transcript last Wednesday but it still shows as "unsubmitted."
Does Hold Status mean that they are just waiting on those things to offer me a possible appointment? Or am I doomed to wait in the eternal hold status till April/May when other appointments go out?

Hold means you are qualified but now they have to juggle who gets appointments. My DS was on Hold Feb-early May last year before ultimately not selected.

Most applicants are on hold at one point during the application process, sometimes for days, sometimes (ugh!) for months. Most appointments are out by the end of March, but you are right that they will trickle out beyond that. Being on hold means you are still under active consideration for an appointment. Keep admissions updated with any new accomplishments. In the meantime, nail down your plan B and enjoy time with your family and friends.

RS2023, I'm copying this from a post from last year:

"USMMA is required (by law) to offer admission to applicants based on their ranked order-of-merit by State. As candidate files are evaluated, some (whose overall standing is VERY high) are offered admission early-on (LOA), the majority, however, are placed in a "hold" status. Those candidates then wait until all applications are evaluated and rank-ordered. In the beginning of April when admissions has all completed files reviewed and sequenced, they make offers to fill the State quotas and then move to the National Waiting list. Hope this explanation helps. "Hold" status is a good thing and shows that your package was reviewed and found worthy to be competitive against others in your state....now they just have to review everyone else in your state and rank them before offers are made. It is a tireless waiting game."

Hoping that helps a little bit!

RS2023: Don't give up hope, but have a solid back-up plan just in case. Our DS received his Hold Status right around this time also. Didn't hear anything for the longest time, and in a competitive state like NJ, was beginning to lose faith. Actually ended up accepting an AROTC scholarship to VMI. In early April, he finally got his acceptance letter from USMMA. He's now a 3rd class midshipman at KP. Hang in there....
