Is it helpful for a candidate to have multiple nominations to USMMA or does it not matter?

I have read in earlier posts that having more than one doesn't strengthen position at USMMA. Since USMMA does it slightly different than the other SA (appoinment by state allotment vs. per MOC) it appears you only need one nomination to meet the requirement. The other SA also only need one nomination to meet the requirement but multiple noms may make the candidate more competitive for appointment. Just my .02.

A lot of kids have those nowadays. Maybe parents are divorced and remarried. Maybe Mom is married to another woman. It happens.

EDIT: Nevermind! I need to get reading glasses. Didn't notice you wrote "noms"!

Technically, it doesn't matter. realistically, ? who knows? But, at the DOD schools, the more nominations you have, the more slates you are on, which means you are competing in more smaller groups before being sent to the national Wait List. Therefore, more chances to get the appointment. USMMA is, as Father indicated, different. USMMA does not have a slate system for each Nominating authority. They are state wide to start with. As a result, if you get one or ten, you are still in the same competition. Now, what I do not know, is if there is some "unwritten" benefit during the admissions meeting when decisions are made if a candidate has multiple MOC, Senate, etc nominations. My gut says probably not, but, sheer numbers from a very competitive state could indicate a good candidate I guess.

Thanks for the responses. I was curious if it worked differently for USMMA than the other SAs. DS is on pins and needles! He was very excited to get noms from both senators and our representative and I just wondered if it mattered or not if he had more than one.

Tell your DS congratulations on three nominations. While it may or may not matter for an appointment, your DS has been recognized by three nominating committees for excellence.

Be sure to have your DS upload any new supporting documents to the portal; most improved player, team Capt, honor roll, leadership award, etc.

Have DS keep in contact with Admissions Officer.

Get DoDMerb done.

Tryry to stay busy (both of you).

The best prescription for right now is a tincture of time.

Good luck with the final steps in the process

I will definitely have him read this post; thanks for the advice! DoDMERB was done and passed in August so his application is complete; just waiting. He did improve his ACT score by 2 points and that was sent a few weeks ago but they haven't updated it on his portal yet.

I would definitely have him call USMMA. My son's scores were uploaded within days of having disbursed scores. Though USMMA was listed originally before taking the ACT, not sent after the fact.

Okay, I will have him call! He did have USMMA listed as one of the places for scores to be sent to so they should definitely have them by now.

Wow! That is early! Our's aren't available until next week, as they just completed exams before the Christmas break. It sounds like you have everything you need then! Good Luck!
