My Application

Hey guys, I have wanted to go to USAFA since I was a kid. My mom came to the US as a Chinese immigrant, and got her MBA in Business. We've worked really hard, and I want to give back to the United States while also following my passion. My dad was in the Air Force for over 20 years, and I too want to follow in his footsteps. I started my application and I just wanted to know what you all think about my chances of getting accepted based on my statistics.

High school GPA: 3.24 (My family split when I was in freshman year, and mild depression carried me through my sophomore year. I recovered and my senior grades are all A's.)

College GPA: 3.9 (I've taken 3 math classes, AP College Physics, and I am currently sitting at Calculus lll. I took all these classes to remedy my high school GPA, and show USAFA that I have bounced back. I'm extremely passionate about aerospace and math, and I hope to go into Aerospace Engineering.)

NOTE: A lot of the reason for my bad GPA at my home high school is due to the depression. I am dual enrolled over at a career campus, and I've had a 4.0 GPA there since my freshman year. 6 classes, multiple certifications including police dispatch, web design, and computer science fundamentals. I've also been in their version of NHS (NTHS) for all 4 years.

SAT: 1440 (Math is 740, Reading is 700, and I have more retakes coming in.)

I was a wrestler for 12 years, and I was on varsity for 3 years before I stopped due to COVID restricting me at state. I've been working 40+ hours a week for over a year now, I have my Private Pilot License, and I have paid for ALL of my flight lessons myself. I have over 60 community service hours with the Commemorative Air Force working on old aircraft. I've held multiple leadership positions at Tulsa Tech, including their national teams PT leader, and I was one of the heads of the student council. My Candidate fitness assessment qualifications are [76' BB throw -> 23 pull ups -> 8.4 shuttle run -> 71 sit ups -> 76 push ups -> 5:27 mile]. I have a personal contact with two of my congressman, and I also speak Chinese, if that means anything.

I think I have a solid shot, despite my high school circumstances. I'm taking a gap year to brush off any skepticism that might arise about my high school application. Let me know what you guys think, as the criticism and help is appreciated.

Just FYI because I can see this is your first post: you should edit and delete your name and HS. Also, change your profile name if possible. This forum is anonymous for a reason. Best of luck to you!
