My AROTC Application Status Just Changed :)

I just got a call from my son and an email from his No. 1 choice school. He has received the 4 year scholarship to at least his first chioce, he said he will let the other schools contact him themselves. I'm sure everyone at his school is wondering why he is dancing through the halls with a big grin on his face today. Good luck to everyone who is still waiting to hear.

Just for a reference his stats were;

GPA 3.55 unweighted
ACT 24

I can have him post his total resume if anyone wants.
As you can tell his ACT was not very high, but it shows that they look at the whole person during the selection process. This is our second son that has gone through the process and both now have been selected. We would be happy to share what we have learned through both times we have all gone through this. Again good luck to you all.

Congrats! im hoping mine will change...I as well go a 24 on the ACT and have a 3.8 unweighted GPA with several extra-activities. So I hope it works out!

I am wondering if anyone else that went before the October board still has access to their entire ROTC scholarship information on the GO ARMY website?

I can still see everything when logging in. I just havent received a scholarship quite yet.

My son checked at around noon. Did not see the status change. Thought he didn't make it this round. Was pretty bummed out.

Then, he just checked 30 minutes ago, and the status changed.

SAT 1410. GPA 3.56. Last name M.

He called the 1st choice school ROTC office, no one is answering the phone.

He called the PMS of his 2nd choice shool. He confirmed that it looks like my son got the scholarship. However, he can NOT tell whether S got the scholarship to his school. In fact, he does NOT see any candidate on the system that got scholarship to his school. He sees nothing.

I read on this board that some PMSs can see who got the scholarship. Some PMSs are starting call the scholarship candidates.

We are all mystified how come some battalions got the his of their scholarship winners and some don't.

by the way, he submitted his applications to #1 and #2 schools already (as a regular decision candidate). #1 school's ED deadline was 5 days ago, #2 school's ED deadline is today. If he knows he got into either of these two schools, he will work with the school admissions office to change his application from regular decision to binding early decision so that we will be all done by Dec 15. We are all dying to know WHERE he got the scholarship and timing if of essence for the reason described above.

Last name C. GPA 4.0W 3.4UW. 33 ACT Composite.

Status is changed on ROTC website but not DoDMERB yet and no idea as to which schools.

Status changed when I checked around ten this morning in class!! :) Last name starts with A. GPA: 4.2 ACT: 29

So, were the updates to the system completed in one day last year? is there still hope that I may be extended a scholarship this time round?

Status changed this afternoon for my son it now says:

You may check your medical qualification status by visiting the Department of Defense Medical Examination Review Board DoDMERB WebSite

Last name R
ACT 33
GPA 3.7

First off, congrats to those who got it!

DODMERB can take up to a week to get all the new ROTC offers into their system. Do not worry if you aren't in yet. It will come with time.

Goodluck to the rest of you.
Someone asked if they updated the results all in one day. I'm not sure. Last year, the scholarship site was actually just taken down while they were updating statii, but evidently that didn't happen this year.

PS-If anyone got an offer to Wheaton, let me know!

Congratulations to all! Exciting times ahead. /happydance

To those still waiting...hang in there! /hugs

Im trying to hang in here... its killing me. GPA 3.2 UW - - SAT 1790. Lots of Athletics. But im applying to pretty expensive schools. Last name starts with "L". My status still hasn't changed...

We received a call today from my son's #1 choice school saying that he had indeed been awarded a 4 year scholarship there and to one of his other choices! His #1 choice school also provides the room and board to all 4 year ROTC scholarship winners!!!

same here for my son: accepted and...wondering about scholarship at Norwich.

is everybody getting phone calls from PMSs/ROO? In fact, my son called PMS and ROO of his top 4 choice schools, and were told that they do not have the list of applicants who were awarded a scholarship to their school. So, I am really mystified as how how some battalions have the list and some don't!!!

So, we still don't know where S got the scholarship for. This is not just a matter of curiosity for him. He has a window of a couple of days where he can still convert his already submitted application to ED and be done with everything by Dec 15.....

Neither has mine, and, to be honest, its seems that if your status hasn't changed by now, its safe to assume that you didn't pass muster for the first board.

update:

S just found out he got the 4 year scholarship to his #2, #3, and #4. He is very happy though he did not get his #1 since after he submitted the application, his preference was shifting toward #2 school anyway.

I am actually very happy that he did not get his #1. I secretly preferred #2 over #1 since #2 school has a better reputation for rigorous education, and the school provides free room and board to ROTC cadets while the #1 school does not. So, the whole scholarship's cash value is approaching $240K for four years.

He will be submitted his ED application tonight for the #2 school, even though the deadline was yesterday, he was told by the PMS of the #2 school that he has been talking to the school admissions office about him anyway, so there should be not any problem.

By the way, moral of the story for next batch of scholarship contenders: I think I understand why he did not get his #1 school: it's a very, very popular battalion. As for the #5, 6, 7: well, pretty obvious - they all thought that S was not likely come since they are not high on the list and the schools were very, very much a safety school for him (his SAT is several hundred points over their average admitted students).
