im a candidate I received a principal nom to USAFA and I have all of the posted minimums for act except for a 22 in science instead of the posted 24 is this really going to keep me out even if I have a principal mom?

Congrats! you should be fine honestly... Wheres your nom from and what other qualifications do you have?? Thanks!

My nom is from my congressman and I have attended northwestern prep, a fair amount of extra ciricular activities and am currently taking college courses at a local jc. But just in case I am taking the act one last time I'm just a little worried but I know of all the act sections science is one of the sections that is not as important I'm just a little worried because I'm up to par at the posted "minumums" in all except for that and I don't want to waste this nom even if I don't get that 24 in science

by the way what makes you think I should be fine is this just experience or past scenarios? I'm just curious where you would think this from.

You can contact your USAFA admission counselor to see if you are 3Q, albeit with your current ACT scores. If you are then you stand a very good chance with the principle nom because you are on the top of the MOC nom slate.

What does your ALO or admissions counselor say? I would be worried if I had an ACT below the posted minimum. If you are 3Q with a principal nom you should would get an appointment. I think the issue will be if that 22 makes you 3Q or not. Were you sponsored at prep or a free agent? I think its good you are taking it one last time.

What do you mean by a 3Q? I'm not quite sure what that term means

3Q. If you are qualified in all 3 areas, academically, physically, and medically, and you have a nomination, in your case a principal nomination, then you WILL receive an appointment.

This is assuming your nomination IS a principal. There are 3 types of nomination you could have from your senator or representative. Also, assuming you gpa and act/sat meet the minimums required, then you will receive the appointment.

I say assuming, because it's possible your act is too low. Does your online portal say qualified or disqualified. Also, some people have been told by the nominating office that they were their number one nominee, but that senator or representative didn't actually submit the nominee as a "principal" nominee. Simply as the first on their list. That's not the same as a principal.

Principal nomination, plus 3Q equals automatic appointment. Non principal plus 3Q equals the academy's choice. Any nomination and not 3Q equals NO appointment.

I am qualified in the area of gpa and physically for sure, medically the Air Force academy has resquested a waiver on my behalf but I know as far as test scores I am qualified in every area except act science (I know this because of the brackets around it on my portal and the posted scores you need to be competitive, all my act scores are in that range with the exception of act science) and also my congressman informed me in his email stating I had been nominated to all 4 academies and then in the end concluding with "you are the congressmens principl nominee for USAFA" so I know I was given a principal nom also my portal does not say if I'm am or am not disqualified

The waver request is a good sign. They wouldn't be wasting the effort to qualify you medically and then disqualify you academically. IMHO.
