Good evening all. I'm currently at NAPS but feel that West Point is the better fit for me along with a career in the army. I applied for the 4 year ROTC scholarship and recieved it for WVU. I will be taking a general engineering course load for the next year (2019-2020).

With a year at NAPS, ROTC scholarship, and good grades at wvu (pending), what do you think would be my chances to get into West Point? This would also be my second time applying.

You can always REQUEST to cross-commission after USNA. The ability to do that occurs if the needs of the losing service and gaining service align. It is in no way guaranteed, and no more than a small handful are allowed to do so. I don’t think USCGA allows it at all, as they have a need and a place for all who graduate.

If Army is truly your path, and it appears to be, since you put in the work for and earned a 4-year scholarship at WVU, then go and be the best cadet you can be. Earn a nom from that unit and know you have a path to Army Officer well in hand. A year at NAPS won’t hurt, as the extra academic polish and introduction to military life will be a good foundation, should you apply to USMA.

Do NOT lose any docs related to your enlisted time at NAPS, and keep your DD-214 in a very safe place. That could help down the road for time in service pay raises and retirement date even further down the road. I say “could,” because I don’t know how NAPS time is counted.
