My daughters scholarship process

Some of you might remember my post way back abput my daughters chances for the AROTC scholarship. Well she interviewed with North Georgia on 6/14 and all went well. We just got her ACT scores back and they were better than her SAT. She had made a 1000 on the SAT. She made a 24 on the ACT which is equivalent to about 1160 on the SAT so we are happy. Her GPA is still low (she finished with 2.8 with honors and AP classes). She is taking a few summer classes to try and pull that up. The increased ACT score gives her a 2496 Freshman Index with north georgia (a 2500 is a shoo in to get in so she isnt far off). I tell you the waiting is the hardest part with all of this stuff! Next up AP exam scores!
 
Hathcoam--congrats on your daughter's efforts to pull up her GPA and her desire to serve her country. I'm assuming she's an up&coming senior, which gives her time to also work on improving her SAT and ACT scores. Both are a bit low in an extremely competitive scholarship arena. If you haven't already done so, you could check into tutoring programs or books that she could use to improve her testing skills. GPA & test scores aren't the whole picture--well roundedness is very important--but they do play a large part. Best of luck!!
 
Congrats to your DD.

Make sure she has a Plan B in place, assuming Plan A is AROTC scholarship. Not inferring/implying she will not get a scholarship, but there are so many facets to this process, such as availability at the school and DoDMERB, it is best to move forward with plan B to protect herself regarding WHAT IF.
