My introduction

I wouldn't doubt the veracity of a self-proclaimed science nerd's statement. There are still school districts that skip a year when a student's academic potential exceeds the challenge provided by the curriculum.
Agreed. My daughter was in this situation, and like @Devil Doc’s daughter - will enter college at 17 and won’t turn 18 until mid-December.

I turned 17 in late April my freshmen year in college. My resident dorm advisor was so dang happy I was now of age, he actually brought me a six-pack of Rolling Rock to celebrate. Cracks me up. The drinking age was and still is 21!!!!!

Welcome...

and I believe Class of 2030 pre-candidates are currently in 7th grade, not 8th.
Yeah, you're right. In my earlier posts I said I was entering high school soon...
I'm a digital student, so me being stuck at home all day gives me way too much time to think and I keep going to the distant future instead of what's happening right then. But, there's only 14 more days in the school year, so I'm pretty much in eighth grade. Unless they hold me back ;).

@Sciencnerd I have a DS12 who will be in 8th grade next year too. He is claiming that USAFA is his first choice for SAs but I have a sneaking feeling I'll lose him to USMA as he gets older. He is my one DS that asks me A LOT of questions about my time as USAFA. Fun to relive those days (now that they are far behind me).

Good for you for gathering info so early. You are already off to a great start!

That impresses me even more. You seem extremely mature for a 7th grader, especially compared to me when I was in middle school. I expected you to be at least a sophomore.

I can't say it enough, well done! I can see already you have a bright future ahead of you, SA or not.

I definitely understand that, recently I went back to a hybrid model but that still gives me too much time to ponder my upcoming future. Since you're even younger than I thought, enjoy your 8th grade year to the best of your ability. You've got plenty of time.

To the OP,
Good work! My son started planning to apply at the same age as you since his dream was to attend an SA, and now he is getting ready to report at USMA in June. This process is a long road with an uncertain destination, but it is worth the effort!

+1 @Wahoo Fan

At my son's high school graduation one of his classmates (whom he's known since kindergarten) gave him a big hug and said I'm so happy for you..., this has been your dream since second grade.

The path has been nothing like the one we envisioned at the time, but I'm still humbled that I'll be able watch him receive his commission at the end of the month.

Please remember that there are many paths that lead to a commission and a career of service. Semper gumby and good luck.
