Hello guys,

I no longer have any questions!! Hurray!!
I thought it would be cool for me to post my monthly progress so u guys all can see as well.

My stats are : 1250 CRM (1890 SAT) (going to go up)
Beta Club President
MSA Public Relations Officer
Chess club president
NHS, DECA, HOSA, and robotics club membership
Weight lifting at school
swimming and rock climbing recreationally and for my local gym
lots of AP classes.

NOT ASKING FOR A CHANCE ME... just posting it here in case someone else in the future sees it and can use it to judge when / if they will get a scholarship as well.

Well here we go!!

September 1st :
I have submitted my NROTC App 2 months ago, and I suppose that the first board has convened. I did not expect to get the scholarship on the first board, so I am not surprised that my app status has not changed. I am working on my app for AROTC, USNA, USAFA, and USMA as well. Havent really started on anything for my congressional nominations. Will have to get on that ASAP. I dont think I will apply for AFROTC, but maybe I will - i dont know right now. Coming from a family where no one is military even in the slightest sense, this whole thing is both EXTREMELY overwhelming applying for all the ROTCs and academies and exciting for me- I cant wait to see what the future holds for me!

Congrats on getting it done early.

Just a craniums up. Every year NROTC states the 1st board will be sometime in August, and I would say that it rarely occurs. It usually gets pushed back to thee end of Aug. and sometimes early Sept. That being said even if they did meet mid Aug. it takes 2-3 weeks for the results to be posted. It is not like they meet on 8/24-8/26 and you have the results by 9/1. Think more like 9/10-15.

Honestly, I think the majority of posters here find out that board results were released because this site lights like up a xmas tree. There will always be that one poster that logs on several times a day to check their status. They will be the 1st to announce here. From there everyone else starts to check. Traditionally it is mid Oct when we see the 1st light up.

You have time to still complete your AFROTC application. Right now you need to get those nomination essays done. That time clock will end before the AFROTC clock. Just me, but I would apply for AFROTC because you are also applying for USAFA, hence you have an interest in serving in the AF. The key difference between AFROTC and A/NROTC is that you can take the scholarship to any college that accepts the AFROTC scholarship. They do not assign it to any particular unit.
~ Caveat the bigger difference is AFROTC scholarship is 2+2. As a sophomore you will compete for a summer field training slot. There have been years of 55% selection rate and years of 93% selection. Nobody can predict that number they need/want in 2018. The selection rate for non-tech (STEM) and non/rated is not the overall selection rate, it can be much, much lower. The year that it was 58% overall, it was @17% for nontech/nonrated.

Good luck. I hope that you also start to get your medical records in order because you can't be 3Q without the medical aspect.

From what I remember (and briefly checked in old posts), the first notifications for NROTC scholarships started popping up around Oct 10 last year.

hi guys,

just wanted to do my monthly post
So its october 8th and I haven't heard anything or had any status change for my NROTC App. I suppose i can still hope they are sending out notifications, but im pretty sure i didnt make the cut for the first board. On another note, I fully wrapped up my AROTC app, interview, and PFT; im board ready. I will be finishing up my congressional nomination information and sending it to his office later this week hopefully?? So nothing too new or exciting.. but stay tuned :D
