N company 25 platoon

1st company, lucky you. Means less stairs to traverse in Bancroft. Also means you'll be cleaning out the Goat when the upper floor residents get rowdy.

What is the goat? And as firsties do you get you choice of rooms?

It's a rooftop that is surrounded on four sides by bancroft. people on the upper decks will throw crap down into it. first and second company will get stuck cleaning it. by which i mean climbing through a window on the first floor and picking up whatever nastiness has accumulated.

Goat Court is the interior square in both 3rd and 4th wings. During the day it is quiet. On nights when people are bored and losing their minds however, Goat Court turns into a spectacle to behold. Things are thrown down from the upper floors. Soda cans filled with water are the most effective but anything works really. Fruit, milk bottles and sometimes computers are thrown into the pit. Laser lights, whistles and bullhorns also add to the show. Some joes get angry and complain that they cannot sleep. To be real though, no true midshipman goes to sleep before midnight after plebe year. It is also fun to watch the OOW hustle around the decks trying to nab people only to find everyone either soundly asleep or studying like a good mid. Unfortunately, plebes in 1st Company usually ended up cleaning up the aftermath.
Yes, Firsties get to pick their room. 2 man rooms and those that are far away from authority figures are usually the most desirable.

im in Company N platoon 25 for class of 2013. and i've tried getting any information i can about my platoon, but no dice.

Good luck to all. We have 4 of our sponsor sons and daughters from '10 at the house right now, squaring away uniforms, doing 2-a-days in the heat, reporting in on Thursday for first set summer detail training and preps for da plebes! They are so looking forward to meeting you...

Umm, I'm almost afraid to ask what 2-a-days are.

Better send my son out to run right now

id assume maybe a few have a fall sport, my high schools football is running 3-a-days right now. but hey im O company 28th platoon

They are PT'ing a couple of times a day for endurance in the heat and humidity, working on upper body strength and cardio stamina, so they can set the tone and pace for plebes at daily PEP at oh-dark-thirty.

The heat/humidity is going to be such a shock to the system for many of the kids. SoCal's finally seeing some sun now, but conditions are very comfortabe compared to MD.

Pachrian, at least So Cal is getting something... Nor Cal feels wonderful as ever :)... I have been running in the hottest part of the day in order to get some heat into the system but it still will not be at all comparable :)... My twin brother reports 2 days before me to the USCGA so maybe 5 days in New London will give me some "experience" :)...
I also see the NA has been getting pretty good weather... low to high 80s...

I hope everyone is enjoying their final days! and navy1314... good luck with the heat :) at least you'll be use to it :)

USNAHopeful - You will have to change your name soon.
Remember that 80's in Maryland is different than 80's in Northern California. Our humidity isn't even 20%. Good luck to you and your brother. It will be interesting to compare stories at the holidays.

ya the humidity will take some getting used to, here in az its easily 103 on average but its a dry heat. no humidity

I'm going to miss the heat, Texan. Sometimes (sadly), I like the 120 degree weather. *sigh* Rain and heavy humidity, here we come!

The best of luck to everyone! :thumb:

GO NAVY, BEAT ARMY!
