we have a 5 hour drive one way to the NA so for summer seminar we are wondering if its better to attend the drop off day or the pick up day (or both?)

has anyone hear attended either and recommend it?

If you attend either, go on pick-up day. I think there is some sort of information session for parents -- mostly to provide them with information about USNA. However, it's solely for your benefit and there is absolutely no need to attend if you are familiar with USNA, it's a long commute, and/or you have something better to do that day. IOW, no one takes attendance.:) If your child ends up attending USNA, there will be briefings on I-Day with even more info.

Many kids show up for -- and leave -- NASS without their parents present either day.

3yrs ago, hubby n I drop off and pick up, DS#1. DS#2 is flying but we’ll pick him up. We are from Florida. We’ll pick up then drop him off st West Point. We drive back home. He had to fly back to make it to Boys State the next day. He will do it again for AIM and Marine leaders in July. I like the drop off ... saw the graduation/awards ceremony and happy to get my DS back.. was a little emotional on drop off... tour was too warm in the afternoon. Morning tour before the graduation was better for me.

We live in Chicago. My DD is flying into BWI and flying out. We have visited USNA last summer and the trip is too long for us to make again for the whole family. If you haven't seen the campus it is worth the trip! Good luck!

thanks everyone. I think we will go for drop off and see the campus and let him come home by himself, even though I wanted to do both.

We did both. Drop off was nice because we had a parent pannel that we were able to attend that answered questions and shared stories of their experiences wirh getting into the NA.

Very beneficial if you want to ask admissions any specific questions in the group setting or privately afterwards. They give very candid official answers (vice unofficial ones you get here).

Does anyone know what time NASS wraps up on the last day and what time they would be free to head to the airport? Trying to book DS a flight home.

The original email said not to schedule flights before 3pm.. I scheduled my daughter's for 7pm. I figured she can hang and read a book at the airport, but I think the day wraps up around 10/11.

It ends by noon. Extra time is suggested to account for possible traffic delay enroute to BWI.

I’m from Chicago too and going the same route. I can’t wait to see the campus!
