Dropping daughter off on July 27. But can't seem to remember if there is something (visit ??) at the end of their indoc. Is there somthing (PPW ?) similar to USNA PPA in Aug ? Searched the NAPS 2011 Brochure and can't seems to find it. Can anyone help ? Thanks, m

Please remember that all this is a tentative date, but according to the football schedule Parent Weekend will be Oct 8-10 (maybe 11th). This is a holiday weekend (Columbus Day) and should be a 3-day weekend for the NAPSters. This is a definite do not miss weekend if at all possible. This is usually the first overnight liberty that the NAPSters will have (although this is always subject to change).

I would not count on the rest of the calendar being release prior to July 27th.

There is a new command at NAPS as well as a new incoming Supt at USNA so being flexible on many areas as far as any potential overnight and getting the entire 3-day weekend liberty is definitely needed.

Hope this helps.

Thanks...

I've booked the weekend in Oct and we plan to go up. I was not sure if at the end of the first 3 weeks whether there was a visit opportunity as well (similar to USNA). Thanks, m

Not really at the end of Indoc. It will end and they will have less than a week (if they hold to the same schedule as the past couple of years) before the Academic year starts.

The NAPSters will have base liberty at the end of Indoc and they will have a celebration that is specifically designed for them. During this time is when the electronic communication will open back up.

Their first chance at going off the base will be Labor Day weekend and there are usually limits to that being "on island" liberty and absolutely no overnights. Many of the NAPSters are still getting used to the routines and some are still looking over the shoulder so to speak.

It is encouraged to wait until Parent Weekend to visit unless you are going specifically for one of the sporting events and not to have an organized visit. They do have military obligations that they have to fulfill and the new pressures of the academics and time management to take getting used to. Parent Weekend is designed to come after the first 6-week Marking Period.
