Quick question on the procedure for enlistment & Oath for a NAPS candidate...The NAPS enlistment forms say to enlist at local recruiter per the supplied forms, orders, etc., the form also states "you can take the oath at the same local office if a commissioned officer is present." Most local offices around here do not have a commissioned officer. I saw that the NAPS calendar shows there is an "Oath Day" at the beginning of NAPS, is that the same Oath required by the forms? Just trying to understand if the oath needs to be complete prior to getting to NAPS or if the Oath is done at NAPS during "Oath Day". Thanks so much!

I believe that you need to take that oath before you show up at NAPS. The oath you take at NAPS is different. The Oath of Enlistment you take at the recruiter’s office, plus the paperwork you do there, is what officiates you as enlisted in the reserves. Hope this helps.

Hello,
Your local recruiting office will be under the juristiction of a Regional Command. These are staffed by the officers who can administer the oath. Your local recruiter will have the contact info and schedules for when their command officers will be in the area. I hope this helps.

Thanks for this information. Would you happen to know if this enlistment Oath is something where a parent can show up? Since there won't be any physical presence for parents at NAPS at the drop off due to Covid, I'm trying to participate where I can but I don't want to embarrass my son at something where it truly his him just signing paperwork.

Hello,

Under normal circumstances, the answer would be yes. COVID restrictions may have affected this. Check with your local recruiting office for their guidance.
Maybe even ask for this to be done outside to keep everyone separated..

Congratulations & good luck.

Hi, yes, you can definitely be there. My DS's Oath for NAPS is today at the local recruitment office and we will both be there. The recruitment offices are also allowing no masks if fully vaccinated.
