During my interview my BGO told me he was required to ask if I'd accept an offer to NAPS, regardless of the fact that he was almost sure I wouldn't as he claimed it's more for academic preparation than anything. Is it possible to receive an invitation to NAPS for the physical aspect? Just a random question I've been thinking about.

In some cases yes, but the main mission of NAPS is to prep sailors/- academically so that they are able to handle the academic rigor at USNA

There is a current NAPS attendee who was answering questions
I had the same one as you, as son didn't discover his sporty side until LAX as a Junior.
He said there are people on both end of the spectrum there, academics and physical.

What are your chances of getting into naps if you are not a recruited athlete? I have heard the slots for naps are very competitive if your not being recruited for a sport.
