Our DD/Napster will be getting the HS Diploma next week. Has anyone enlisted yet after the graduation from the class of 2020 and would you share your experience during the enlistment process for the NAPS 2021??? I did call the Navy Recruiter in Fairfax and was told to just show up no appointments needed. Thanks you all Napsters and good luck.

I don't understand what you're asking here when you use the Naval Academy Preparatory School (NAPS) and "enlisting" in the same sentence.

sorry, the requirement prior to reporting to NAPS is enlistment in the Navy Reserve. Just wondering if anyone had completed the enlistment process after getting the HS Diploma. Am I missing something?

Yes, you are correct about NAPSters needing to enlist into the Navy Reserve under their midshipman program as a NAPS candidate. No need to apologize.

It is essential that you contact or visit your LOCAL Navy Recruiter Office. Explain to them that you need help with the NAPS process.

Some Recruiter Offices are familiar with the NAPS process, but you must reach out to them soon. If they are not familiar, then they will connect you with another office that is.

I am from the NYC area, and my local Recruiter Office received an email from another office explaining how they will be processing NAPS candidates as they are familiar with the process.

Hope it helps.

Sounds like they are familiar with the process. You also must be sure that they are helping your DD with the required actions for NAPS only when you visit them. This means that your DD will not need to take the ASVAB or a medical exam at MEPS.

It is one of the Required Actions on a NAPSter's CIS page : "Must enlist in the Naval Reserve".

Although there may be some confusion, one of the invited presentations from Chief Bland clarified that NAPSters are not under traditional enlistment terms. They are within the NAPS Midshipmen Candidate Program. It is required that they must swear in for the 10 months (and only 10 months) they are in NAPS in order to have their uniforms and supplies paid for and so they too may receive pay.

I hope this helps.

My DD was NAPS Class 2020 and we went to the Recruiting Office in Fairfax. The process was rather simple just make sure you have all your paperwork in order (diploma, birth certificate, etc). It can take awhile to complete everything in the office especially if the recruiters are trying to process enlistees so be patient. When we went there were three other kids there being processed in for NAPS. Also, while you do not need any appointment it would be smart to call ahead on the day you plan to go. We had an appointment and the recruiter forgot and when we showed up the office was closed.

The school here is barely giving out diplomas on Wednesday and I was wondering when you called the recruiter, what exactly did you say?

Some offices do not require diplomas because schools may be unable to give them in time. Please call your local office to see if they require diploma. My office only needs a transcript with my date of graduation.

Hi my DD just enlisted for NAPS. We are in MA and our recruiter just called the number on the NAPS enlistment checklist and the Chief was very helpful to him. Although we just found out our recruiter never sent the paperwork to NAPS and gave us most of it so we have an appointment with him on Monday to send all paperwork over via fax. Good luck!

Thanks. I have family in MA. Hope your DD meet our DD at NAPS 21. We are from VA and the enlistment went smoothly. Are you on the FB NAPS Class of 2021 For Parents? Thanks again.
