Good luck Session 1'ers! You'll have a blast! :D

And Session 2 people...are you ready yet?! I'm getting so anxious. :)

Have received a few text messages from my DS in session 1. He seems to be on top of the world, having a blast. CFA was given on Sunday afternoon.

I have received "several" text messages from my daughter. Major eye opener for her. She doesn't think this is the direction she wants to take. She was not working out and getting as prepared as she should have been and now it's regrettable. I am so happy that she has at least had this opportunity to explore and get a taste of the experiences of this week. She has received her official candidate letter so maybe once the aftershock is over she will re-visit the idea with a more committed mind. Thank you USNA!

Several calls home from D. Is loving it! Rocked the CFA--did quite better than the one given a WP SLS. Will have a tough decision to make, but is even more committed to attending a SA. Says the food is amazing and is enjoying the classes. Life is good!

Does anyone know if they are posting pictures anywhere as they did at WP?

This is what Sumer Seminar is about. It is so totally not wrong to decide that another direction is best for any young person. IT is their life and decision ... my now youngster son says during plebe year he often wished he'd taken that full ROTC scholarship ... he never wanted to quit UNSA ... but it is an incredibly tough place to go ... espcially for plebes. Summer Seminar, as I understand it, is just a mere hint of what is to come. Plebe year is a beast ... and if you don't go into it WANTING to be there ... it's even tougher. Our friend's son is in ROTC at a "regular" college. They will both end up in the same place. Different routes, same goal. Both good choices.

Thanks MJOmom for your post. The different routes option is exactly what I have explained to her all alone so thanks for collabarating my thoughts...

Congrats to your son on sticking it out. I know it's tough!!!

It is tough and he has grown up so much! Our younger son is going to Session 2 of Summer Seminar ... inspired by our trips to Annapolis last year. His twin sister said there was NO WAY she would ever consider going to USNA ... and that's OK

My now-youngster son also advises that USNA is tough, and perhaps even tougher for girls. They don't get to be girls for years ... and it is mostly male, and girls need to deal with that. Teenage testosterone-filled guys can be crude and enjoy it ... they are still nice guys overall ... but get them together and, well, they do boy stuff ... girls need to understand that ...

Well, they will be home today!! A lot to share, I am sure... The photos from the facebook site are great shots and confirm that they were well challenged and that it was enjoyable!!!

best experience ever!!! :D

How is it that a little taste of Plebe Year at NASS is "the best experience ever" whereas the full experience just doesn't ever seem to earn the moniker "best experience ever" - rather "Whew! I'm glad that's over"?

As I told my sons before they went off to the Naval Academy: There is no, one, single thing that is all that difficult during Plebe Summer. What is difficult, however, is the relentless nature of the experience.

It's no 5-day camp.
