NASS acceptance updates

If a candidate chooses to go to NASS this summer and cannot go to a CVW this spring or next fall, as a result, I bet USNA would still allow someone who receives an appointment next year, the opportunity to attend a CVW to help make the decision to accept the appointment. However, if someone receives an appointment and accepts it, then there would be no reason for USNA to offer up a CVW slot, as they are designed to help candidates experience time there to help them make a decision, right? Who knows, though, USNA could always hold firm on this new rule.

Anything is possible. Remember this is the military there are always changes. With a new Supe coming in he or she may change the rules. Right now the rule is what I posted. NASS or CVW.

For those who don't get into NASS, do not think that means you are not a good candidate for admissions. I applied for NASS last year (late in the cycle albeit) and didn't get in (not even waitlist). Fast forward a few months and I've received and accepted my Offer of Appointment. Also, I was never offered a CVW. The take away to prospective candidates is to just focus on what you have the ability to influence, work on extracurriculars/grades, and strive to get applications in as early as possible! Wish everyone the best of luck.

Sorry to threadjack, but are there any rumors going around as to who the next Supe will be?

I just saw someone post that they've extended the application deadline to April 4. If that's true, does anyone have any insight as to why they would extend the date? Not enough applications, perhaps?

I applied a few weeks ago and I cant wait to hear back. I did not think that NASS was a rolling schedule so I really left it to the end of March, so I dont think I will get the stop I want, but I guess we will see.

How can you check if you have been wait listed? Or if you have been accepted? Via email?

I applied for NASS on January 7, any session, and have still not heard back. I did receive an email confirmation that my application was accepted. A few weeks ago I received an email from Admissions saying "you may have received an email asking for you to complete your application and that was in error." Should I email Admissions to confirm that they have my application or wait?

They will answer you whatever you choose to do.

You can look at any of admissions official sources (website, Facebook, Instagram or twitter) and see that the deadline was extended until Friday, April 5th, 11:59pm. No idea why. But doubt it’s because there aren’t enough applications. IMO. Traditionally they have around 6k apply for 1.5k spots.

My Son applied in January and has not heard back either way. Still waiting.

I just wrote to Admissions asking about the status of my application and they accepted me to NASS Session 3 one hour afterward. Lesson is: it might be a good idea to follow up. Thank you justdoit19 for saying that I might as well email them; as you said, they responded immediately. I"m very thankful!
Good luck everybody.

See my reply. Have your son email them to ask the status of his application. My email was succinct and polite. I was accepted to Session 3 within an hour. Good luck

Exciting day today...Day #1 of first session. DS is a detailer, and is ready for ‘ya! For many this will determine a YES or a NO as far as applying...it was a deciding factor for my Mid. So for many, the beginning of an amazing journey.

I am excited to hear my sons perspective as a detailer!

Go NAVY [emoji572]️

DS there right now and this is make or break for him. I know for some summer programs the academies post pictures and updates. Does USNA do such a thing? I’m not too looped in on all the info, sort of flying blind.

They do post pictures of NASS. If you follow the USNA and USNA Admissions pages on your favorite sites you will see pictures.
