If you are asking about Candidate Visit Weekend this is no application. CVW is offered by invitation only, and to be invited you must submit a Summer Seminar application and it is up to Admissions to who gets a CVW. To my knowledge it is too late to receive a Spring CVW invite since CVWs start this week. Although you can still be invited to a Fall CVW the fall of your senior year.
If you are asking about Coast Guard AIM, the application is still open until April 1.

Did anyone get your NASS session change ? My DD requested her session change on the same day (last Friday) that she got accepted but she hasn’t heard back. She’s anxiously waiting to hear back so that she could plan for all the travels.

Not necessary to attend either or both. But helpful if you’re genuinely considering both, are open to serving in either branch, and want to know the differences in culture, setting, lifestyle, etc.
DD attended all three DOD SA summer programs — back to back to back. Though she’d targeted USNA since middle school, her eyes were opened at USMA and USAFA. She was impressed with all three and appreciated what made each one distinct and special.
She applied to all three, won offer of appointment to all three. Thought long and hard about West Point, largely because of SLE. Ended up at USNA, knowing she’d made about as informed a decision as possible. So great if you can do multiple sessions. But if you can’t, not a big deal either.

Also, again, for those who do not get invited to Summer STEM or NASS; that decision has no bearing on your candidacy as a future Midshipman.
DS was declined first time for STEM. Crushed. I wasn’t on the forums so didn’t know what if anything that rejection meant.
At his request we kept attending MOC events and met admissions staff. They encouraged him to reapply. He did, went to STEM, that set the hook. He set his classes and goals to make sure he was the best candidate he could be.
Junior January, applied to NASS. Declined. He was a hot mess. Thought that meant he wasn’t an attractive or competitive candidate. I think that’s when I joined the forum. Or possibly just before.
I learned from wise SA contributors that a denial didn’t mean anything re qualification to be a competitive candidate.
Fast forward four years, he commissions in May of 2024.
Keep your head down, keep those apps and extracurricular activities going. Tend to all plans A-Z.

It is incorrect, that in order to attend a CVW, that you must submit a summer seminar application. A CVW can be triggered by many things…it’s up to admissions.

I seem to be in a strange predicament regarding my CVW or maybe not. For context I was unaware I would be applying to USNA until October of my senior year; once I read of its benefits and my desire to serve, I knew this was the place to go. So I completed the entire app in roughly a week and later completed my nomination, medical, and physical test in Nov(as a senior). So my entire app has been done since early December when my medical was Qualified. Then, around late January I received a CVW invite for April 13th. I find this strange because the acceptance deadline is April 15th and confused why they’d offer a Cvw to a senior this late. Can anyone inform me is this is normal or a potential mistake.

For those of us not behind the admissions curtain, some things can seem strange. But think of it this way:
Say you get a BFE in the next few weeks. You have to make a decision by May 1, and a visit might help you decide. So that April 13 CVW may suddenly seem like a good thing if you’re on the fence. 😉
(April 15 is not the acceptance deadline. That’s USNA’s target date for informing all candidates of its decisions.)

That’s a great way to look at it, even if I weren’t to receive an appointment it’s still a great opportunity. My backup is Nrotc at UF and I may want to transfer so my intention is to go. I just find the timeline very strange lol
USNA invites candidates to a CVW based on info you send them, either early when opening a file and applying to NASS, or later, in your case. I think this was just how it worked out with the timing of your application. It is perfectly normal to go to a CVW after receiving an appointment, especially if you have never visited. Good luck!
