NASS Acceptance!!!!

Have you actually been confirmed for SLE Session 2? My DS application is still in Pending status with the preference set to Session 2. DS got accepted to NASS Session 1.
Yes, DS (not me, lol) is confirmed for Session 2. He's working on the checklist and letting me know what I need to sign.

Does anyone know if you receive notification if you are not selected? Hope we are not going 0 for 2 after not getting selected for Inspire.

How long did it take for your DS to be confirmed for SLE session 2 after receiving the initial acceptance email?

He doesn't remember when the SLE portal changed from pending to accepted/in progress (what it is now), but he got an email on 2-15 that he was accepted to SLE and then another email on 2-17 about the confirmed date for Session 2 and to complete items on the checklist. Can your DS see the checklist items, yet? We are in the SW Region. I don't know if that matters.

The checklist shows workshop preference, application status (pending), preferred session (session 2), and link to parents tour.

Two years ago, my oldest got an email that he was not selected. It came on April 29 but that year the whole process was later due to COVID protocols and virtual sessions so they could come earlier this year.

I believe that they would just send you an email. I would know this since I applied to USNA Summer Stem and was sent a rejection email my freshman year. I believe that more NASS acceptances will be rolled out before the end of March and this is only the first batch.

Curious, any NASS accepted folks who have also been invited to CVW's yet? Wondering if it's one or the other right now or if some have both.
My DS got an invitation to CVW and also NASS acceptance this week.

I have not gotten any emails about a CVW. Am I supposed to be soon?
If you haven’t gotten an email about a candidate visit weekend yet, then you most likely didn’t get an invitation for the spring CVW. This isn’t necessarily a negative, especially if you got accepted into NASS.

Received our letter yesterday; DS will be going to Inspire March 30-April 1 and NASS Session 1. very excited about the opportunity!

If one goes to USNA
CVW, is it necessary to also attend SLE? DS is going to SLE session 1 and was accepted to NASS session 2. Boys State the same month. Don't know how to logistically manage it all.

None are “necessary”. And the answer is student dependent. SLE and NASS will give him a glimpse into each academy. Boys State will give him points on his applications.

He won’t be dinked for not attending SLE/NASS. He also won’t increase his chances at an appointment. *Most* do not attend either program. But, they can be an important piece of a students decision, should they feel they need exposure to either SA.

Boys State is a line item on the applications.

So, depending on your sons exposure to the SA’s, he may not need either summer program to help him.

I know that for NASS, and I would assume SLE is similar, you can request a change of assigned week if you have these conflicts. It’s not a guarantee, but it’s pretty common to want to attend both.

Thank you for your insight. He was excited to experience the NASS, but in light of the fact that he'll get a taste at CVW, it's probably not worth the fee / airfare to go twice. SLE, Scout Camp, Boys State and hopefully some time at USAFA will keep him busy! I guess I'll see him at the end of the summer.
