NASS decisions

I sent my application for the Summer Seminar the first day it was open (as I’m sure many other exciting C/O2026 candidates did). I have not yet heard back a decision either way about my admissions status. Does anyone have an idea as to when I can expect a decision? It is not life or death, but I would like to have time to fill out an application to the West Point SLE were I not to be accepted to the Summer Seminar. The SLE app closes March 15th, so if I don’t hear anything from the Naval Academy by then should I just go ahead and apply for SLE anyways? Thanks

USNA Admissions expects to give STEM notifications in a week or two, perhaps the NASS notifications will start going out after those. You can double check right from the source, Admissions, by participating in their Chat sessions. See USNA admissions web site.

Yes, go ahead and fill out all apps for Sumer programs. If you end up with a conflict in camp assignments, traditionally they have been able to move sessions...either SA...so you don’t have a conflict. Not a guarantee of course. You could also rank sessions that don’t conflict with NASS.

Every year, we see posters that are trying to figure out transportation and laundry after one camp, headed straight to the next. It always works out, and what a summer you will have!!

Don’t wait until the last minute to apply, as you run the risk of not being able to get something in on time, or camps filling up.

Good luck!

last year SLE and NASS had rolling admissions...AIM and USAFA SS had one drop date for notifications

Do you know if they send you an email about your acceptance, or how does that work?

During the Academy's Jan 21st online presentation they mentioned people who applied early (Jan 6th) should be notified by mid-February. Didn't sound like they were completely sure, more like a guesstimate.

My best advice is to apply for both. My decision (acceptance) came on May 19, 2020. I also applied for USCGA AIM program and was waitlisted. I honestly did not put as much work into Navy's application as I did Coast Guard's and I did not overthink it and got in. I was however very detail oriented and careful about my application to AIM and I got waitlisted. My best advice is don't fret to much, if one doesn't work out be grateful knowing you gave both shot and tried your best, but please take advice from someone who has walked down this road: don't fret over this, it is just a summer program and has no bearing on your admission decision. If you don't get in, do something productive to improve your file over the summer. I took dual enrollment courses and worked when I wasn't in the program. Please feel to reach out if you have any further questions.

Very Respectfully,
JD
