NASS ...Possible Conflict

Hello,
I'm new to the forums but seeking advise from you wise folks. DS received his NASS offer this week and we need to respond by the weekend. He is beyond thrilled! He also has Boys State the following week, he even more excited that the timing seemed to work out. We spoke with HS admins and they said he can take exams week early. Only problem now is that NASS starts the same day as baseball championship ( he is starting pitcher & team projected to do well/ went far last year too). My question is, would NASS let him come 1 day late? Is it better to decline now and throw away this opportunity even though there may NOT be a conflict on June? Can he let NASS know in late May/ beginning of June after seedlings for playoffs and possibly get refund? Any suggestions and advice is greatly appreciated since we need to respond back this weekend!

Attending NASS will have no impact on his USNA application. There are no points added to the Whole Candidate Scire for attending NASS. If it were me I'd decline NASS, or try to change it to a better date, and do the baseball championship thing.

EDIT: Once his application is in he could inquire about a Candidate Visit and spend some time at the Academy that way. Of course all this is my personal opinion.

Agree with kinnem. Reach out to USNA and see if he can switch weeks. Boys state adds points, NASS does not. A CVW is a great option and something he can request. Hopefully USNA offers him one. NASS is fun, but a CVW is a much more realistic view of USNA.

Daughter had a conflict and called USNA and they were happy to change her session. This solidified her desire to go to USNA as a first choice. If you can do it!

DD did not get NASS or initial CVW but did have a LOA. Contact your BGO for a CVW time that is convenient. Got one and it was a great weekend.

Thank you for your input. We have thought about switching sessions but DS school already gave us hard time about asking to take exams early. By switching to last NASS session it would conflict with Boys State, and we've heard defin do not pass up that opportunity. If we switch to the first session then DS misses the games leading up to state playoffs. He's in line to be Capt of baseball next year & potential for assistant capt this year.

Based on this, I would concur with @AF6872: Pass on NASS and ask for a CVW instead. The baseball experience and potential to become Captain next season is worth more.

My son had a conflict for NASS last summer and he called to see if he could switch weeks. No problem. I think the sooner he requests the switch the better...

If there is a problem with all the NASS weeks, then I agree with AROTC-dad, as usual. I would just blow off NASS, do Boy's State and request a CVW at the appropriate time.

I have a similar issue as OP, your daughter called USNA admissions directly to ask for a switch?
