Has anyone in NY submitted his/her nomination application for Senator Gillibrand? Last time I checked on the site, it said the application will open in July. But when I checked back today, it said they are only taking applications in August 2015.

DS is class of 2018 and got a nom from Gillibrand when he was applying. Her office and committee are quite organized - in my opinion, more so than Schumer's. In any case, what you saw on the site is correct and it won't go "live" for class of 2020 until mid-August. All of your packet is usually due by mid-October. Remember the nomination process isn't "rolling" like USNA admissions so her committee really doesn't look at the info until after the due date. At that time they choose some subset based on the packets to come in for interviews. Interviews are usually in early December. Announcement of nominations, unfortunately, varies from year-to-year. For DS, he was notified right before Christmas break but it didn't show up in his USNA portal until 2nd week of January (a few days after the Senator's press release naming nominees). I'm not sure when nominees were notified this year but the press release didn't come out until mid-Feb, nearly 2 weeks after slates are due at USNA. In other words, candidates were likely waiting to the end!

Good luck getting everything together and getting an appointment to class of 2020!
