Naval Academy Summer Seminar 2009

Hey, does anyone know where we meet the guys at the BWI airport? I'm landing around 0800 and would like to be around the general area for the shuttle, bus, whatever it is.

Thanks! :)

a friend of mine who went last year told me to look for the USO area in the airport, and he said the people waiting for you are in white uniforms.. easy enough. he also said that there will be a crap load of lost looking teenagers =)

Me neither - I leave tomorrow on the red eye flight to BWI and the only thing in my suitcase is socks... Tehe :)

Haha.. Yea. My parents bed is covered with all my clothes, which is a ton becasue Im apparently going to DC for 5 days after NASS. But I don't leave until like 1130 tomorrow.

USNA Seminar 2009

I was accepted into the Summer Seminar Session 3 from Cypress, TX. I have been calling the Blue and Gold Officer I met but have not received any correspondence. How can I found out who is assigned to my area?

You will find out who your BGO is when you receive a letter containing a log-in name and password for the Candidate Information System on usna.edu. I received mine yesterday, so it's probably in the mail if you haven't got yours yet.

Just wanted to say that Summer Seminar was awaome and USNA is absolutley my number one choice....Have fun to everyone who is yet to go!!

NASS 2009

I was accepted to NASS and attended Session 1! It was amazing and I enjoyed everything about it.

can anybody plz right about their experiences? I was accepted but I couldn't go and I'm feeling really curious as to what the experience was like.

I went last year and we had a chant for echo :)... "echoooo, echo, echo, echoo, echo, echo, echo, echoooo :)..." lol

haha, i was in Echo 4-5 last year, third session

our chant for echo was like that one techno song. it went echo oh oh oh,
echo oh oh oh, oh oh. it was pretty sick when the whole company did it.

Its nothing like the actual USNA experience. Even the food in King Hall is better during SS. There was no A/C in Bancroft when I did NASS so it was miserable. Later that year the A/C was installed and turned on. They throw a lot at you in a weeks time on the yard. Don't get sucked in to the summer camp type atmosphere or any of the other flare they shove at you. Use your head and your resources before you pursue a spot.

My son really enjoyed it too. He is at West Point's SLS this week, and so far isn't enjoying it nearly as much. Mostly lectures and briefings today and much more down time. We'll see how he feels at the end of the week, but so far he liked NASS much more.

Reporting to session 3 on Saturday. Can anyone tell me how hard the PT was? Also, how hard was the PFT?

I went to NASS session one this year. It was really fun. The PT was very reasonable. CFA one day, PRT the next, work out with a Navy SEAL another, 3 mile run with everyone, and of course Sea Trials day. PRT was easier than the CFA by far because yoiu don't get tired out from all the different events. They do get you up at like 5:15 every morning, but that wasn't to bad at all. Sea Trials was long, but really fun. You get to stay with your squad all day and do different things with them. There is obstacle course, meadow workout, relays, log PT, some running, wet and sandy, zodiacs, more relays, team building, tug of war, swimming....etc. You do have to eat an MRE for dinner, so choose wisely. Our squad got pizza later that night though, so it wasn't a big deal. Just drink lots of water and you will be fine for the day.

If anyone has any other questions about SS just PM me or reply on this thread. I'll be happy to answer anyone's questions.

PS-Go BRAVO!
