Naval Officer Interview Hasn't Been Submitted. Options?

My kid is an applicant for a navy ROTC (national, 2018) scholarship. His application has been completed and the recruiter has everything except the officer interview. My son actually had the interview conducted at an NROTC unit in Louisiana over 3 weeks ago. The recruiter has repeatedly tried to contact the officer via phone and email, but the officer won't respond and has submitted the evaluation. What are our options as we live in an area where navy ROTC units aren't easy to come by. We drove nearly 3 hours for his interview as it was. Do we try to contact the commander of the unit? Can my son try another interview with any naval officer- like a chaplain? Would an air force officer be acceptable? Just to be clear, the officer is there at the unit. He's not away. He might be busy, but he is there. Also, before and after the interview, everything seemed fine. My son said that the officer said he's a good candidate. Looking for suggestions. Thanks.
 
Contact anyone in the unit, including the CO. Your son certainly cannot interview with just any Naval officer and certainly not a chaplain. Air Force or Army is definitely out of the question. If applying for NROTC MO it must be a Marine Officer (mentioned just for completeness)

Wow. Not a whole lot of options, then. It will be really awkward to have to contact his CO over this. Thanks for your help. I know what needs to be done, now.
 
I know 3 weeks seems like a long time, but they probably have several of these to complete, Mids on summer training coming and going, might of been on leave before school starts and probably have orientation for the new crew. Heck they might of even had to go do some training themselves or lead training. I know when I did my BGO interviews this year I waited to submit them until I completed them all. Took about 4 weeks. Not sure when first board is, but at the four week mark have your DS reach out and inquiry if there is anything additional they need.

I don't think three weeks is a long time; I think it took a little longer for DD's Army officer to submit her interview. Just another good reason to have this scheduled well before the board deadline.
 
Thanks everyone. I was told (by the recruiter) there will be a board sometime in September. I'm going to try to be a bit more patient and will try to update this forum.

The same thing happened with my Army and AF rotc officer interviews last year. Be patient, it's a good quality. If it gets down to the last two to three weeks before the deadline and it still isn't in, contact the officer. Just the way I'd do it. Good luck to you and your son!
